Futurama often sacrifices humor for science fiction. The first few episodes suffer from having to introduce the characters, something The Simpsons never really had to deal with. It really hit its stride in season 2 and 3, but got a little too dramatic in season 4. Yes, the Fry chasing Leela thing needs to cool off.

During the years it was airing, I think Futurama was better than The Simpsons. Is it as good as The Simpsons in its heyday? No, but I'm hard pressed to think of ANY sitcom (cartoon or otherwise) that is.

I never schedule time to watch King of the Hill, but whenever I see it I'm surprised by how good it is. It's got a unique pace which is much softer than most cartoons, but it's pretty damn hilarious most of the time.

Will I ever reach 1000?

Having recently watched all four Futurama movies; my ranking is:

Bender's Big Score
Bender's Game
Into the Wild Green Yonder
Beast with A Billion Backs

SPOILERS:

Every movie had very funny moments but overall 2 through 4 seemed a bit disappointing. I really enjoyed Bender's Big Score and thought--wow, if the first one is this good, they're just gonna get better and better. But Beast was a big drop-off and Wild Green Yonder---I don't know. That could've been the last of Futurama forever and there's all this time devoted to Leela's eco-gang. And the tinfoil guys. Those scenes seemed to drag. I liked seeing nearly every character at the Wong Demolition platform but it lacked a sense of epic-ness, for the last adventure.

The ending seemed rushed. I'm okay with them zipping away into the black hole but Leela's requiting Fry's love seemed to come out of nowhere. It would've made more sense directly after the whole Lars-storyline but I understand why they'd save it till for the end of the last story. But it just seemed thrown in there since it was the last story. Even though it was only one episode, the Devil's Hands are Idle Playthings felt more satisfying in dealing with this.

However, like I said before, all four movies had very funny moments and it was great getting to watch new Futurama. I just hope that when they finally end the show (hopefully at the creators' decision) they give more time to the characters I love watching and not over to some new characters I don't care about.

In my opinion,

Does anyone else hear hate Family Guy? Very poorly thought through obvious jokes. It really annoys me how unfunny it is (i'm going to stop giving it a second chance.. over and over...)

But on-topic Futurama is excellent.
