So, FB is playing my dream show at the Wellfleet Beachcomber MA in August, when I will be just 6 months shy of the ripe ol age of 21. Needless to say, the venue is strictly 21+. I have to get to this show, so just assume that not going is not a possibility.
What would you do if you were in my shoes? Would you get a ticket in advance anyway, and just try and talk your way in? Would you show up extra early and try and get a hold of the man or his crew and see if they can take you under their wing? Or go for the fake ID (which I wouldnt need otherwise, it would be solely for this event)?
My spirits are almost broken. They are limping and bruised badly. I was looking forward to this as the highlight of my summer, and finding out about the venue was a devastating blow. So, like I said, assume that not going is not an option. All I want to do is be able to see and support my favorite performer, and I would be more than willing to pay 2 or 3 times the cover price just to be able to see him. SO HOW THE HELL DO I GET TO SEE THE SHOW?!?
any suggestions are appreciated |

Hmmm, that's a tough one. I hope you figure out some way in, man. Does everyone have to show ID?!

i feel your pain. this is prob not the best way but it's creative. get one of your friends to dress up in a big hoop skirt and then sneak in under her big skirt. or maybe get a job at the bar and get in that way?
good luck i hope you get to see the show. |

I would say if you know someone who is 21 and looks remotely like you, switch IDs for the night. Wear a hat or a hood or something to hide yoursellf a bit, but it may work.

unfortunately i am a male, so I dont have the luxury of cleavage. Ive been begging my mom to give me my fake ID that she found years ago, but she insists that she threw it out. I dont feel liek driving to NY and spending 80$ or whatever on another one, but I am getting pretty desperate. ANyone know a way to get a decent fake in MA? Like I said, I would only be using it for this show, and booze is not the issue, so it doesnt have to be immaculate.
But I was thinking....what If i brought my banjo and told them I was with the band or something? gain some beer weight and shave my head and tell em I was frank. They probably wouldnt know the difference! |

I got my 14 year old nephew into a concert which was strictly 21. So it's not impossible. Wow that was 5 years ago, where does the time go. So like Jose says, "Are your parents into rock music?" is a great suggestion along with an uncle, aunt or other older person you know that might like to rock.
[Edit] According to The Beachcomber of Wellfleet, Cape Cod's website: quote: We are a casual full service waterfront restaurant and bar.We cater to the local and tourist crowd, including lots of families, for lunch and dinner.
Go for dinner with family and stay for the concert. Seems too easy.

is the beachcomber really 21+? i have been going there for a very long time and i would not be able to tell you that as a fact it is or it is not. there are always people under 21 there, but it is a busy rest/bar and fully functional all day long and i may just be confusing night and day.
regardless, there is always a way. i can think of at least 2 side/backdoors that you could sneak through. the staff there is mostly students so an "extra fee" may get the job done, sometimes you need to grease the skids.
you should go there and do a little recon.

I run the place, we're 21 plus all the time and unfortunately the owners make no exceptions, even for the most ardent of fans.. Best I can do for you is let you know that if you come down and hang out outside behind the stage(perfect for hearing the show) you probably won't be bothered, and you'll save twenty clams. |

If the liquor board catches you running around in there they're gonna fine the place at least $1500. Unless the cover is around $3000.00, I doubt they're gonna go for your offer.
Just find some one who remotely looks like you, offer them $50.00 for their ID for the night, and badda bing! Don't get into trouble or try buying booze or everybody's going down. |

When I was a youngin' I was able to obtain a real ID from the BMV with my picture and my older brothers information. I simply went into the BMV and said that I lost my ID and they needed 3 pieces of ID; I gave them A paystub, Birth Certificate and Library Card and got my REAL fake ID and the only downfall was that my brothers ID was now null and void so he had to go get another. Don't know if this would work nowadays or if the licenses are saved digitally? It worked for me! |

I think you mean 'cue'. Unless you meant that the Mission Impossible music should get in line, perhaps waiting to get into said venue? :)

I thought only British people said 'queue' meaning line. Also, can anyone clear up the way 'proper' is used? I've heard the Arctic Monkeys refer to someone as a "proper character" and two people "proper shouting". Does it even have a real meaning? The two phrases seem to have nothing in common.

It means the same thing really, as done properly, someone who is a bit loud isn't proper shouting, someone yelling for all they're worth is proper shouting.
It's a slightly teenage chav phrase though.

Not really, everyone uses it, not just chavs. I've been saying it all my life. Maybe it's a regional thing?
