Frankus, Please come to Manila, Philippines. For a Brit now living in the land of videoke it would make my year. Noone good ever plays Manila cos of the 'safety issues' which is bullsh1t. The only safety issue here is knowing when to turn it in and go to bed. Truly a party town. I'm sure Manila boy Joey Santiago would back me up.....
Suggest an awesome venue:
The Hobbit House M H del Pilar St Manila Tel: +63 02 521 7604 (info)
This old Manila favourite is still going strong. The Hobbit House is a live music club run by a cooperative of - you guessed it - dwarfs (Pixies?!). The acts range from flawless Filipino Dylans to expat folk-singers..... if you ask the little staff members nicely enough you can get them to don a velcro suit and then throw them at the wall so they stick!

Dolans is a good place in Limerick to play. http://www.dolanspub.com/warehouse.html http://www.dolanspub.com/upstairs/index.html
Looks like everyone else has done a bit of tourism promotion for their area so here's a picture of a Stone Circle near where i live. People used to hang out here around 3000BC and do human sacrifices for pagan gods. Pagans Eh? Always up to something!
Ricahrd Harris was from Limerick. Here are some pictures of him looking off into the middle-distance dramatically:
Here's a castle. It's in the city. "A castle in the city" you say? "Yes" i reply.
And here's some other Limerick stuff:
There's other stuff too like rivers and lakes and houses and that kind of stuff. (Notice how i didn't even mention Munster Rugby people! Ah crap)

please play in halton, in the north west of england, it has ermmmm a bridge...
a power station...
and a disgustingly underused arts centre...
although it may not be the best rock'n'roll venue in the world, i can personally guarantee that me and at least five friends will come . seriously though, this area of the north west has been neglected badly in terms of live music...
failing halton, anywhere in manchester/liverpool/blackpool etc, would be the awesome
the fighters, the lukewarm, the traitors... |

Every year in May, my girlfriend's hometown (almost a hamlet) organizes a 2-day country-folk festival. I'm sure 99% of its population have never heard your name, but I have no doubt you'd be welcome there. So why not take a chance and gravitate to the hills of Eastern France?...

My friend and I play this wonderful little tavern (250 max cap.) in Snohomish, WA.(25 mi. N. of Seattle) every Thurs. night. We do a two hour acoustic set consisting of only great covers of our heroes' songs. The people there have been very supportive and even more so, very interested in the songs we play from your catalog. I have spent alot of time playing, explaining, promoting, and actually buying, and gifting these patrons your CDs. The funny thing is, alot of these people knew the words to a handful of your tunes even before hearing you sing them. You have alot of new fans in Snohomish who would completely lose their minds if you stopped in to play a few songs for them. Then, of course, I'd be voted mayor and have main street's name changed in your honor, but that's beside the point. I will cover your fee/expenses to eliminate any door or ticket charges. If you need a place to recover, 5 miles away, my house is your house. Home cookin' dude! |

Haven't seen it. I've heard about his drunken rages in pubs in Limerick though. Even so, there's talk of erecting a statue of him in the city. Proper order too.

Frank, you always come to Philadelphia and I love it, but I am an hour away. You have only played Atlantic City once with The Pixies at The House Of Blues. It'd be cool if you played Atlantic City which I'm only 10 miles from, or anywhere in SOUTH New Jersey. I'll still go to your Philadelphia show and I of course still want you to play the City Of Brotherly Love.

Here's hoping Wisconsin might be in your plans.... I'd love to see an FB show at an outdoor venue. Break the club routine and play at a street festival here in Milwaukee, or head north up the lakeshore where all the bigger cities have outdoor music festivals during the warm months. Think of it as a nice chance to absorb some of the local color.

Frank - Is it true that you are going to play in Wellfleet, MA in august? Seeing you in a small club or venue would be the highlight of my summer....But I've heard that the Wellfleet venue is strictly 21+, while I just turned 20 yesterday. You gotta help me out man! The music is all I got goin for me right now, and yours especially has been keepin me from going mad.
If you don't end up playing Wellfleet, you really ought to play a boston area club before or after the wang show (such a lousy name for a venue). You're probably familiar with the Paradise, avalon, and the many smaller clubs around the area. I saw Bobby Bare Jr play TT and the Bears a month or two ago, to a crowd of about 10 people, and he was talkin on stage about FM/RM, and how you were demonstrating all of the songs to the guys on a uke or something like that. And then he got offstage and gave everyone in the crowd a big bear hug.
Anyways, keep doin what you're doin man. Play some music and I'll get there one way or another. |

Hey Chuck,
I understand that you'll be in New York in mid August. Unfortunately, I doubt I'll be able to catch that show, being only seventeen years old. The venue, the Southpaw, has a strict 18+ policy. If you'd be interested in playing a show closer to me, check out New Jersey. We've got some killer venues. I'd suggest Maxwell's in Hoboken (www.maxwellsnj.com). I'd have a fighting chance of seeing that.
You run all kinds of red lights except the ones on the street. When you run out of exits you can always count sheep. |

Hey Charles, you've played England, Scotland & Ireland but never WALES (not since Pixies in Cardiff 88 or 89) So when you next play UK, please play in Wales. There are some great venues here!

Hi Charles,
I think that it's so cool that you would ask.
My request would be for Mpls. I know you've been here many times but I know that there are a ton of fans here that would love to see you again.
As far as cool venues go...First Ave and 7th Street Entry (you know it would sell out in 2 seconds but it would be cool to see you play a small venue) would be cool. There’s the 400 Bar that’s very cool and rock and roll but on the smaller side. There’s the Fineline where the Pixies had their first reunions show. There's the Orpheum and Pantages Theatre which remind me of smaller versions of the Hammerstein Ballroom.
There’s a few that I hear are really cool but I have never been to a show at—the Varsity Theatre, the Kitty Kat Club, Turf Club and Triple Rock Social Club. I am pretty sure those are all closer to the U of M.
Then there’s casa ala Daisy Girl where you guys could play my basement or back yard. Yeah, in my dreams right??
Seriously, thanks for asking and I hope that Mpls makes it on your tour list.
Take care and enjoy the rest of summer with your super cool fam!
