After five years and thousands of dollars, I've decided to stop taking dope. I know what you're thinking: "Jimmy, don't stop doing smack; you won't be as cool when you're clean. We love you just the way you are, Jimmy. Don't change." I think this is for the best. But, if you really feel strongly about it you can always send me whatever opiate pills you've got around the house. I'll never stop taking those. They're medicine.
Anyway, I'll probably be away from the forum for a couple weeks, not in detox, just in bed, eating Smarties and Bottle Caps and watching TV.
Withdrawl isn't that bad, it's just like the flu. But you know what I've found is the strangest symptom: wet dreams -I guess because the dope is so numbing and when you're on it you have no interest in sex.

I'll probably be on the forum tomorrow after work, maybe even Saturday. I'll still have to do some to get through work tomorrow.
If anyone has any suggestions on how to get through this, let me know. I'm looking for ways to make the withdrawl a little less painful. (I wish the Hallmark Channel would re-run the "Little House" episode where Albert kicked morphine.)

You can't make it less painful. Sweat, hurt, shake, feel doomed, be horrified, throw up, feel sorry for yourself, scream to God, curse everyone, stink, stay awake, feel like your gonna have a few heart attacks, have constant anxiety attacks, cry, don't shower...and after all this and probably more, you'll know if you're truly ready to quit, or go back for more. My guess is you're not serious. Remeber, there's always money. It comes and goes. Big deal. And there's always drugs. Big deal. Go eat your Smarties and watch tv. Have a nice couple weeks. As for the wet dream syndrome, it's a miracle you can still get it up after 5 years and thousands of dollars of abuse. THAT should be your decision-maker right there...impotence. To be or not to be...

If you are really serious about getting clean, and want to detox safely and more comfortably PLEASE see a doctor. There are no shortcuts on this one. |

I think dope has a pretty wide definition. From what I've seen it can mean nearly any drug.

While we're clarifying things and ignoring Jimmy's rehab, aren't there two kinds of smarties? The little pill like things that come wrapped up in a plastic roll (and cheap people give them out at Halloween) and the poor European imitation of M&M's.
So, which one is it Jimmy? |

They taste waaaaay better than your chocolate M&M's. The orange ones are orange flavoured chocolate. You aint got that : P
I admit the peanut M&M's rule though!

Nothing holds a torch to Reese's Pieces, which unfortunately are in pretty scant supply here.

Crossing the border into the States from Canada last night, I bought some M+Ms, far inferior to Smarties, but that's all I can find in Canada. Reese's Pieces, on both sides of the border, are, meh, ok. Nothing rules like the iconic Smarties.

I didn't think that Smarties were that hard to find- around here you can get them in almost any store that sells candy, but I usually get bags of them at convenience stores, 2 for $1 or 59 cents.

You still haven't clarified which Smarties you're talking about (but I'm guessing knock-off M&M's).

There are plenty of smarties around here! I have a box of them downstairs from Halloween. Though I'm more a fan of M&Ms than Smarties... especially if we put a nice nut in 'em. Pill like things in a plastic roll? No idea.
I agree with Darwin on Orange + chocolate. Really, whose idea was that and why is it made?!
And I love any Reese thing. The little candies of the big cups. Mmm.

Kathryn, have you tried english smarties? I live in Canada as well and I love smarties but my mom always brings the 'Giant Smarties' back from England and they're awesome. They use slightly different choclate.
