Today I plan to leave 2 hours early... because from 3-5 there is nothing to do but surf the net (as you can see). When I arrive at home, I would have picked up two Bacon Mushroom melt combos at Wendy's on the way (Complete with Frostys for fry dipping). Waiting for me fresh from the shower will be my boyfriend and together we eat our junk and watch the Simpsons in our underwear. Now I can't think of a better way to enjoy one's after work hours.

What do you guys do?

Homers' rather efficient reply made me laugh out loud.

And isn't there some rule here about not being subjected to thought images of female forum members sitting around in their underwear? Mods? CHOS, you seem to have recovered from where you were about twelve, eighteen months ago, if memory serves. Do I have the right Canadian lady? If so, good for you.

I didn't actually laugh out loud, but I was sufficiently amused.

My currently unemployment means I can't really answer this. But dinner, TV, movies, are good wind-down things.

Here's how wind-up toys wind down. At least, Simpsons' ones:

Well I am certainly not amused, and I most certainly did not laugh out loud. I don't expect to see such profane language on fb.net. Must we stoop so low as to use that four letter word that starts with a "w" and ends in a "k"? Some of us lazy wankers get wound up just at the mere sight of the words "w*rk" and "j*b."

For about the last twenty minutes it's been snowing here in Reno. Ten days ago or so it hit 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Didn't want to start a thread or try to hunt down floop's Southern California weather thread, so I dumped the comment here. Looks like a good day for winding down.

I usually start the day with a large black coffee or two and the odd smoke. I then lounge around reading a book for a while, usually listening to radio 4 or the world service. If I have any of the stuff for it I will make a bacon sandwich around lunch time. I often skip lunch. I take a walk into town, sometimes with my camera sometimes not, listening to my wee pod and go to the library. I'll browse the books and see if anything catches my eye and will read in the library for a bit sometimes. At the moment my library book of choice is an Orwell biography. After the library I'll go looking for second hand books or just strolling around listening to whatever I have to listen to. If I have my camera I'll take photographs if I don't I'll just happily wander. I might then go to the market to buy vegetables and meat or whatever depending on if I cook that night, what I think I might cook that night and if I'm cooking for my housemate(s) too. I then walk home via the turkish bakery where I get some bread rolls. When home I make some more coffee, tidy round a bit because my housemate(s) are scruffy and butter some rolls. With Radio 4 or a CD on I then write for a while and mess about on the internet until my housemate(s) get home or the simpsons comes on. Whichever happens first. Then it's often time for a cup of tea or coffee after which I do a bit more writing and/or reading until it's time to cook/ have food cooked for me. The evenings are usually spent curled on the "sofa" moaning about how uncomfortable it is watching TV or a film with many more cups of tea and the odd cigarette and conversation in the garden.

As much as I want a job, I don't want a job, I like this sleepy little life.
It doesn't pay well though.

I'm unemployed all over the place too.
I've gotten lazy with my writing, telling myself I’ll get back to it every next Monday.
In an average day, I’d get up between 10 and 12.30, sometimes go into town looking for a job, watch a lot of TV, mess around on the internet, play with two hyperactive puppies and one older grumpier dog, play something on the PS2, try to get back writing and get distracted by something else. I'll usually watch TV till 2 or 3 in the morning and lay in bed awake till around 4.

Still it's better than slaving for "the man" i guess

Here's the sad truth.

I work alot of day shifts at work (Saturday is my only night shift) so I normally spend my evenings with my two daughters (one 3 and one 18 months.) After they go to bed at around 10, I try to write (usually ideas for graphic novel scripts I've had rattling around in my head for a long time) or draw (I used to stay up all night drawing when I was younger, now I rarely find the time) or fiddle around on the computer aimlessly (usually this is what ends up happening, either configuring Linux or spending time here, on FB.net.) Almost always any of these activities involves absentmindedly drinking beer, recently Corona, until much too late at night, making me extremely tired for work the next day.

Sometimes recently I've been reading at night, although it puts me to sleep better than anything else. (I have a huge collection of James Michener novels I've barely scratched the surface of that I inherited from my dad.) And that, my dear friends, constitutes most of my evenings.

my day starts about 2 hours too early...wake up at 5.25am for a 6am start at work.
i spend a couple of hours out in the pit logging blastholes and checking up on the various diggers and stockpiles.
then it's lunch time at 11. and i generally spend the rest of my work day (until 4pm) on the computer trying to get Vulcan (our 3D software) to work correctly. generally i get very very frustrated and swear and yell alot, and when i get home at 4 i crack open a home brew beer and check the daily goings on on the internet.
then it's time for a shower and make some dinner with the mrs.
then a bit of tv and bed at 8.30 for a bit of a read. current book is "sideways" - liked the move alot, so got great hopes for the book.
and then the cycle repeates itself like that for the 9 days straight i work. and then the 5 days i get off i tend to sleep alot.

all i can say, thank god for polio! brian

I get up, meditate on the roofterrace and then have oatmeal with raisins. After that write for a couple hours, first some warmups then on whatever project is of the moment. Around twelve or one IŽll make a flask of green tea with some mint leaves thrown in and go write more in the plaza of the modern art museum, full of skaters, jugglers and writers, I find quite an inspiring bustle about the place. Afternoon is for researching, reading or writing music or loafing about drinking tea, then cook with flatmates or whoever else is hanging around on the terrace. Three afternoons I teach a class in a town outside Barcelona so I get to say hi to some trees. Some evenings IŽll go back to the museum plaza to see friends, play guitar or pick up bags of pizza that a nearby restaurant throws away at the end of their day, but most are spent wandering the streets talking or singing with folk. I donŽt really have anything to unwind from, or I guess my work (sic) is a process of unwinding.

I suppose I wind up working on sites like this after work. But after THAT, I do wind down before bed. I maybe watch a 30 min show or read. Presently reading Gibson's Count Zero. He's definitely one of my favourite contemporary authours.

I don't work, because I'm only sixteen and still at school, but I'm on study leave until next Monday even though my exams finished last Thursday or something. Today I've played the guitar, sat on the internet and that's about it, although I think I'm going to the pitch and putt with my mate tomorrow, we can't play golf, we think it's boring, but pitch and putt is most definetely the bollocks.

My typical afternoon, following school goes something along the lines of:

-shower
-eat something (most likely an apple or some pretzels)
-browse the internet for a bit
-read for a bit (can be easily substituted with playing some music)
-start homework/studying (accompanied with some background music)
-eat some dinner with my parents
-continue studies/music/internet browsing/reading
-sleep
