I wish they'd ignore those type of applications too and put some more normal people in that actually represent society as a whole a bit better. We both know that they'll keep picking young people who say they'd be up for having sex on TV though.
It seems now you just have to go into an interview, say you're bisexual, say you're a 'bubbly' character, say that you'll speak your mind and tell people that you don't like them to their faces (which not alot of them actually do hence all the bitching), maybe get you tits out or show your arse and bang! You're in the house!
By the way, I can't even remember why "The arc of ariumph" is my signature. Maybe I was watching the DVD when I did my profile? It just amused me the way FB said it.

Another of my bb pet peeves is the way they cater for people who only watch the odd episode. Say a task is explained on Tuesday, on Wednesday the narrator will explain the exact same task again, just for the people that missed Tuesday's explanation. Sometimes, they even cater for the people who only manage to catch half an episode. Say something happens in part 1, after the break the narrator will explain what happened before the break for those people that missed it. Is it really that important?
Well, it used to annoy me. I don't watch it anymore because I think it was killing my braincells.
What's the full quote in your sig, by the way?

The full quote? I'm not sure, that's just it. It's from the 'On the road' part of the Pixies DVD (I'm not sure if you've seen it or not). The band are on a tour bus in france with L'arc de triomphe(sp?) in view and Charles just appears in front of the camera and says "The arc of triumph" repeatedly. Charles seems to be in a playful mood.
Again, I don't know why it's my sig, it's not even amusing really. Hope this explains anyway.

Don't get me started on "When I get bored I just get naked!!". I almost threw up when i read "bubbly". You're right about the applications. The thing that gets me is that this year there is NO representative from the people that understand the format of the programme.
"I just don't know who to trust any more". Right. You mean that you didn't really undertand what this show was about in the first place. Attention whore.
"The arc of triumph" gets me every time. It's so utterly pointless. Just grabbing the cameraman to say it. It reminds me of Hicks and Morris.
I'm not really bothered about "represent[ing] society as a whole" as much as representing AT LEAST ONE intelligent and media-savvy voice. They totally screwed Galloway on the celebrity version, and they screwed Victor in their editing. The big problem (for me, at least) is that they pick the winners early, and then edit the 9:00 programmes to fit it. |

Mr Samurai,
Oh God. You've got it right there. They do enough explaining after every commercial break. Credit us with SOME intelligence. |

I agree with you 100% but I think the problem is that 'normal' everyday folks who aren't attention seeking whores don't apply for Big Brother anymore. Maybe they did for the first series but now the people who apply for Big Brother apply for it for a reason, fame and fortune. They've seen that you can get your ugly face in heat magazine or whatever if youre on big brother. Whereas anyone with half a brain cell wouldn't want their business splattered all over the papers or to be chased around by paparazzi photographers and so wouldn't bother applying.
The new housemates are lame. The twists are getting more and more shitty every time. I think Im finally falling out of love with Big Brother.

They definitely look for people who are a bit wild in some way. And They manipulate the situation so that something wil flare up....It's like putting insects in a jar and coaxing them to do certain things.
Oh yeah, an Australian MP has called for the OZ version to be scrapped, after two guys in the Australian BB house were expelled for over an icident of alleged sexual misconduct.

Australian PM wants Big Brother axed for showing alleged sex attack on woman
Roger Maynard in Sydney Tuesday July 4, 2006 The Guardian
The Australian prime minister John Howard has called for Big Brother to be axed after two male housemates allegedly sexually assaulted a female contestant.
Mr Howard condemned the Australian version of the reality TV series after footage of the incident was shown on the show's live internet streaming, though not on television.
One of the men reportedly held the young woman down while the other rubbed his crotch in her face. The alleged victim, 22-year-old Camilla Halliwell, was then forced to relive the experience before millions of viewers when she was questioned about the incident.
The behaviour of the two men has outraged campaigners against sexual violence and politicians, who have demanded the independent production company, Southern Star Endemol, and Australia's Channel Ten network dump the programme.
Mr Howard said it was a question of taste. "Here's a great opportunity for Channel Ten to do a bit of self-regulation and get this stupid programme off the air," he said.
His views were shared by the opposition communications spokesman, Stephen Conroy, who said the incident was so serious that all the prize money should be donated to groups that help sex assault victims. "The producers of Big Brother stand condemned today for creating an environment that is fuelling behaviour that is aggressive and demeaning towards women," he said.
The two male housemates, Michael "Ashley" Cox, 20, and Michael "John" Bric, 21, were ordered to leave the Big Brother house at the weekend. Police questioned them and Ms Halliwell but have not pressed charges.
Di McLeod, manager of the Centre Against Sexual Violence on the Gold Coast in Queensland, where the series is filmed, said her main concern was that Channel Ten was playing down the seriousness of the young men's actions.
"They are putting people in situations where the boundaries will be pushed ... and we're expecting young people to know what's right and wrong," she said. "It's clear those boys were not identifying their behaviour as being perhaps criminal, and at the very least antisocial and inappropriate."
Clearly uncomfortable, Ms Halliwell told fellow housemates how she had told one of the men that it wasn't "the right thing to do". "There was no malice intended ... and when I said very specifically to John, 'Don't. No,' he didn't do it," she said. Her reaction had much in common with women who had gone through similar experiences, Karen Willis of the New South Wales Rape Crisis Centre said. First she had been distressed and then she had tried to play down the incident.
Broadcasting regulators in Australia have yet to make a decision on the programme's future.

man, their eviction choices sure do change about, don't they. I'm not sure, I think Richard will go. Pete to win still, he's sufficiently entertaining and unannoying.

Big Brother just doesn't seem as interesting when the World Cup is on does it? I still hate Nikki though. Why she feels she has the divine right to have two beds (one of them a double!!) is beyond me. I'm struggling to tell if it's all just an act from Nikki or if she's really just a bit slow. Maybe both?

wasn't she pissed? I thought that was the funniest thing she's done in the house. (in the diary room talking about the beds) I think she's slow and naive. Not sure about an act.
Ashlene's (sp?) crying was overblown and fake tonight. As soon as she realized she was getting attention for it, it got worse and louder and more dramatic. Ffs, my 4 year old daughter is just as bad.

Definitely fake crying. Well maybe not fake, but exaggerated. If the guy who was actually evicted can take it on the chin then why does she have such a problem with it? At first I felt a bit sorry for her but it just got annoying very soon.

I have hardly been watching this week, but I saw most of it tonight. I was disappointed to see that the guy who was chucked out seemed like a fairly sober and rational bloke in his interview. I'd still much rather be watching Victor and Jason than Lea and Glyn. |

You know what? It really pisses me off that a foul disgusting 'woman' like Lea can be cheered on her way out of the house. Lea is the kind of person that if I met her in the street I would probably vomit on her.
It also pisses me off that Davina McCall never gives them a hard time in their interview. She words everything so as it won't offend the person like "You were very fond of Pete". Why not tell it like it is and say "The viewers were getting worried for Pete's well being when your blatant stalking was getting out of hand. Why was it that you had such a strange, unhealthy obsession with him when he was obviously uncomfortable with it?".
They shouldn't have such an easy time when they come out. They should be made to fully explain every questionable action they did in the house.

Yep. I'll give you that. Remember Grace (ironic name) throwing the water? McCall basically giggled about it as if it was naughty-but-worth-it. And if Nikki ever gets kicked out, that's when I'll start throwing up and smashing stuff. She'll get a "you're tantrums were so funny!" rather than the "you are a spoiled 10 year-old, you have a mouth like a bumhole, and your behaviour is embarrassing". I hate it so much. If I was in charge I would have switched the cameras off by now and let them get on with it. Never let them out. They probably wouldn't work it out for months. |

I also wish the Sunday papers and 'celebrity' gossip magazines would all agree not to do any interviews or stories about housemates. I know it wouldn't happen, but it would be funny since the people that go on Big Brother know they'll get paid for doing stuff like that. Some of them even talk about it when they're in the BB house. I remember one guy (I think it was Kemal) who said to Saskia when she was in bed with that annoying Maxwell bloke "Is this ordeal ever going to end, I'm sure you've got your magazine deal by now". Then when Maxwell threw a glass of water over him he quipped "At least someone got wet tonight, it wasn't Saskia". Classic quote. Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah, don't give them magazine deals.

Of course they deserve something after the shame and ridicule they bring upon themselves and their families.

I'm delighted that she's gone, but I expect that they'll lick her arse in the interview. It was brilliant to see her form an alliance with Jayne. As soon as that happened she was fucked. Jayne is the most hateful heap of slob I've ever seen. And it should have been obvious to anyone with half a brain that she would be hated by all. |
