It was a toss up for me. I liked both teams but I quickly went the heat route for theses factors.
1)Crying about the officiating. People really have to get over this shit because it only makes you look like a big bitch crybaby.
2)Stackhouses' flagrant foul.
3)Nowitzki, whom I really like, flipping his lid after their game 5 loss.
4)Mark Cuban, whom I really like but really should stop crying as in bullet point number 1.
good for the heat. |

I agree with you El Loco, but you have to admit that as amazing as Wade was, he got absolutely every call. Including the one late in the game last night on Nowitzki where Wade bascially stiff armed him with his off hand. T
he's back jack smoking crack find him if you want to get found

Preferential treatment works!
This year's finals are a perfect example of the NBA playing off of naive fan's excitement. Heck, even this guy says he turned into a Heat fan because of it. If preferential treatment of stars didn't work, then the rest of us fans-of-the-game-itself wouldn't have to point out the problem. But it works. People get caught up in "the show" of it all, and forget the same rules should apply even in the finals. Go buy yourself a Dwayne Wade jersey and wear it proudly. This will send a message to David Stern that he and his WWF/NBA marketeers have done the right thing again. They will sleep alot better knowing Dwayne Wade is the off-season cover boy for the NBA. Dirk Nowitzki is far too gangly and ugly and unorthodox to keep things moving down to the ol' nbamerch.com warehouses. Sadly, it works. But it works.
Again, I had no attachments to either team. But, if I were forced to choose I would have picked The Heat just because I knew them winning it all would drive Kobe bananas. But not after the game 6. That's when I stopped watching/caring altogether. Now Kobe can relax. He knows the time. Damn. |

Did you happen to see Shaq's foul on Stackhouse in game 1 where he thrust his tree branch forearms into Stackhouse's nose and ripped it open as Stackhouse drove to the basket? Or the many Shaq elbows early in the series? I applaud Stackhouse for standing his ground. He was about the only tough guy the Mavericks had in last year's playoffs as well as this year's.
The crying: I agree, and Avery pretty much stayed away from crying about the officiating, only complaining about the suspension. I love this mavs team, but I must say they and Cuban showed a ton of immaturity once they got to the finals. Still, they were picked to finish in the bottom half of playoff seeds from the west before the season and wound up having an amazing year.
