Seriously, this is the best playoffs I can remember (at least since Jeff Van Gundy was haning onto Zo's leg for dear life). Suns-Lakers. WOW. Suns-Clips. Another 7-gamer? Mavs-Spurs. Classic. THE CAVS. Seriously, we are all witnesses. Discuss.

I agree that this playoff season is getting good. I would so like to see a different team take the championships. I've been a laker fan since the 70's but I will critic my team without bias. Phil has dropped the ball this playoff season. I'm still confused why he played smoosh parker. Aside from this, I would love to see either Gary Peyton or Steve Nash get a ring. I've been wanting Nash in a lakers jersey for years. It's also good to see that the spurs and the pistons are close to being eliminated, I'm so tired of them, it's time for some new blood. The Clippers will probably fall but they did good for a cursed team franchise. If the Cavs continue, I don't see them topping the Heat. I'm thinking it will be The Suns and Heat for the Championship.

Damn right super cool playoffs this year!

Fun watching LeBron grow up. He dribbles, shoots, dunks, and PASSES the ball! A refreshing interview, as well.

Kobe is a selfish prick who will never win another championship. Too concerned with padding those reg. season stats. Blame Phil ONLY for relenting to his boss's disregard for the team concept, and cashing his checks. Shield your children's eyes when Kobe is playing basketball (or being a husband).

Steve Nash is the real deal. Understands and takes advantage of mega-star-McNike-endorsers with the team concept. Great for the kids to watch. Inspirational to short, white men, with speech impediments (canadian), globally.

I would like to see Gary Payton never get a ring. Dude's an asshole.

ScottP, I agree. I caught LeBron's press conference after Wednesday's game. Even at his young age, he really seems like he has his shit together and is infinitely more likeable than Kobe Bryant and his cliche-ridden wannabe-Jordan interviews.

Has AC Green gotten laid yet?

I haven't been watching since the Kings got knocked out (who I like) and the Lakers got knocked out (who I intensely don't like). But I'll probably be watching this weekend.

He wasn't playing selfish in the playoffs and they lose. What's your point? What does his personal life have to do with the playoffs? I'm not a Kobe fanatic but it puzzles me why everyone jumps on the hating bandwagon. Jordan was the most selfish player in the games history yet he is loved. Should I hate him because he's a womanizing gambler? Oh wait, that's your style.

Kobe HAD to stop playing selfishly in the playoffs. He was too tired to keep going at the pace he set in the reg. season- A pace he set to win MVP, scoring, free throw, field goals att., titles that do nothing for your team. So, now you and he can blame his teammates for failing in the playoffs. Classic Kobe. He's all about Kobe and a discrace to team sports. He'll continue to chase off great players the Lakers aquire and that's just fine with me. Any player that handily beats Allen Iverson in an ESPN's "Who's the biggest ballhog in NBA history" ballot, has got team concept issues. Being a crummy person is just a side note.

I can't agree with the statement that Jordan was more selfish, either. I can name almost all of his teammates throughout their championship years. I couldn't tell you the name of ONE of Kobe's teammates in the last two years. Bottom line is, teams win championships. A solid TEAM will win again this year. And, again next year. That's my point.

BLT on GP- Word. I edited down my first entry on this topic because I felt it was too long. My first draft had a huge paragraph about how big of a jackass Gary Payton is, and was. He was famous here in Seattle for throwing babyfits, screaming at adoring fans, and acting like a gigantic asshole for many, many, years. The only thing GP deserves is blunt force trauma. After his retirement, look for him on "The Surreal Life" where he'll show the world what it's like being a spoiled, mouthy, world-record holding asshole primadonna. The ratings will spike.

I cannot BELIEVE the NBA suspended Jason Terry for "punching" Finley. I am stunned, seriously. They send Reggie Evans to his room without supper for grabbing and yanking on Chris Kaman's man-sack, and Terry geting a little slappy on scrum for the ball on the floor lands him a suspension for the most important game in Dallas history. Hey, why don't they suspend Dirk for having floppy hair or being German or some other dreamed up offense. Bruce Bowen does the equivalent of punching a person on EVERY PLAY but they call him a great defender (I really hate Bruce Bowen, but that's another story). If the Mavs lose this series, I will personally visit Stu Jackson and show him what a punch is and then he can suspend me from enjoying another fucking Spurs-Pistons final. Unless the Cavs win tonight, which we're all praying for.

The Jason Terry thing was ridiculous. I didn't get a chance to see it until late in the game on Friday, but all the talk shows were going crazy here in Dallas about it. Most people said the rule is the rule, but after seeing it, I couldn't believe that they called it a punch when a guy is pile driving your head with his hip while you are on the ground. It sucks that it hindered the Mavs' best chance to knock off the Spurs. I felt like if it went back to San Antonio for game 7 then the Spurs would win, but now I think the Mavs will come out with a great effort and will take the game (yeah, I'm a homer!). Go Lebron. I'd love to see a Mavs/Phoenix western conference finals.

Whew...I love the West. Phoenix/Dallas (If Phoenix can hold on to their lead in the 4th qtr) should be interesting.

Detroit is almost gone and good! I admit they are a tight and ready unit but old bubble gum head rasheed wallace makes me wanna puke.

Who ever plays the heat in the championships, good luck. Finally a good ending to a great season.

I can't beleive they're (Pistons) taking shots at their coach and each other under Flip Saunders, but they didn't under Larry Brown. I hate Larry Brown, and I'm pretty much loving what's happening in New York (ditto Isiah Thomas, thanks for ruining the CBA). But Saunders always seemed like a good guy and a good coach, and yet the rock steady Pistons are combusting. I find their game so boring, and I don't know why everyone has trouble with them. It's easier said then done, I guess, but just chase Rip around and deny him catch and shoot opportunities, get physical with Rasheed and try to stop Chauncey from penetrating. Outside of that, they'll all settle for jumpers, Ben Wallace isn't going to score more than 10 a night and Tayshaun Prince, while a great player, can't carry the load himself. And this is exactly what the Heat are doing. Also, Wade is developming into an all time baller, and at this point has Finals MVP pretty much sewn up. Unless Dirk goes even crazier in the playoffs. Or Nash beats the Mavs by himself (since Shawn Marion shows up about twice a series). What a great playoffs.

Mavericks!!! Wooohoooo!! As a long time Mavs fan, well ever since they were started, this is sweet. Gonna be fun to see the Heat and Mavs fight for the championship. Shaq always makes fun of Dampier for saying he (Damp) was the 2nd best center in the league a few years ago. I'm tempted to go greet the Mavs at the airport when they fly in tonight. A few thousand people did after they beat the Spurs.

Tough choice. If Shaq wins, it's going to sting Kobe's ego (a very good thing). But if Shaq wins, payton gets a ring.

They've got Dampier and Diop to use up fouls on Shaq, since neither are a part of the Mavs offense. They can throw Howard on Wade (not that anyone can stop Wade), and are deep at every position. The Glove and White Chocolate can't guard any of the Mavs guards, no one can guard Dirk, and the Mavs bench could compete for a playoff spot by themselves. All that said, if Shaq and Wade play like Shaq and Wade, and the supporting cast plays well, the Heat are tough to beat. This series is a total toss up, just like the Spurs-Pistons from last year. Unlike last year, it will be entertaining, fun to watch, and will (hopefully) have no Bruce Bowen style defence.

I don't want to see "The Oil Slick" win another championship after he gave Van Gundy the axe halfway through the season. I thought that was a bit opportunistic.

The Heat won't be able to stop Dork. Shaq gets too confused. Dallas in 6.

Great playoffs this year. I still giggle when I think of the Marv Albert incident.

And injured in game four. I love Wade, I think he's the best player in the series. I just don't think the Heat can beat the Mave four times. Dallas is just too deep. Though Riley finally dipping into his bench a little bit (Shandon Anderson) is a good idea. GP and J-Will can't guard anybody.

And no Stackhouse for game 5 with the suspension. Seems a little fishy since the news reports are that the network was pushing the league to review the flagrant foul. Maybe wanting the ad revenue for a game 7? Kind of BS when you see lots of the elbows that Shaq has thrown in this series, but Stackhouse did go overboard on the foul.

Anyway, the Heat sure look like they have learned how to play the Mavs, but we'll see. Wade is definitely MVP of the series up to this point.

OK,so the Mavs blew it at the end with the stupid time out call. Best headline I heard was "It's not the Heat, it's the stupidity". Still, the officiating was ridiculously bad. To let the Heat win it on free throws after a phantom call with 2 seconds left when Wade just threw it up was a joke. And the 18-0 free throw attempts disparity in the 3rd qtr? OK sour grapes I know, but it is frustrating. Well, I still have faith in the Mavs.

that time out call was too funny, Howard was looking away from everything because he knew the entire world was looking at the newest dumbass. also, seeing dirk go apeshit on the way back to the locker room was really surprising.

Most national broadcasters and articles I heard and read seemed to think it wasn't a foul. I did hear Hubie Brown say "you can see Devin got him on the knee"!!! Regardless, unless he was bloodied, you don't decide the game at the free throw line, do you? I mean, think of all the free throw heroics Magic and Michael and Larry had as they dramatically won the game at the line.

Still, Wade was pretty amazing as he dribbled around almost the whole Maverick team en route to the foul.

One other development is that apparently when Dirk left the court, he punted the basketball into the 3rd deck and it hurt some guy who had to be carried away in an ambulance, and now they are trying to get Dirk suspended for game 6. Just when you thought you had heard it all.

Basketball is one of those games where the officials can pretty much decide the outcome. Hubie Brown is great, and he said no foul. I agree with Hubie.

Baseball is a good example of a sport in which the officials can't direct the game so much. Football and basketball can be manipulated much more easily as it has in their last championship games, respectively. This was really shaping up into a great basketball title series until the familiar stench of the fix started wafting through the air. I know it's true, because I could care less who wins this one. It's obvious. Not quite as obvious as the Seahawks/Steelers debacle, but obvious enough to see that the NBA wants their next big thing (Wade) to be in on every commercial oppurtunity for the next year. It's a felony.

Oh heck. I guess none of the forum members' teams could get a championship. At least the Oilers made it to seven games.

Well, Wade and the Heat earned it the hard way. Must say they kicked the mavs' tails tonight any which way you slice it.

......damn......
