This is not a complaint I’d like to address to the moderators. This is just something I’d like to mention to other members.
There seems a need for some users to constantly attack each other and confront each other. Trying to put other members down. Sarcastic comments, and childish insults. Not all members are like this. But there is always a few around. A need to feel superior due to the amount of posts you have along with the moniker that goes with it. What’s the point of trying to degrade another forum member? Why would someone claim to hate everything about a person they never even met, and most likely never will meet? Some members will go out of there way to be pricks. As if we needed them too. The majority of members will more than likely never meet each other outside of these forums. That’s why we have them. So we can chat with other FB fans. If you don’t truly know the person that doesn’t give you the right to try and cut them down. You don’t know these people, or anything that’s going on in there personal lives. No one wants grown up bullies in this place, so why try to be the bastard? If it’s a case that you don’t like the member, simply don’t get involved.
People have enough problems outside of these forums than having to add abusive members to the list.

You come in here crossposting non-news and then cry when someone calls you on it. There isn't a pecking order on this board. If a "veteran" member did the same thing he/she would be lambasted even more than you. Just turn the page and move on. You should sleep on threads like this for a night or two before you post them.

Crossdressers get picked on too. Can the moderators please do something about those who pick on crossdressers too?

You know what S Wrenn, I am on a fair few forums and this is one of the least harsh to noobs I had ever come across, I have been posting here on and off for a while and never felt victimised because of my post count. Recently I wanted to change my posting name and on any other board would have thought twice about losing my post count, although it wasnt in the thousands, I had no issue with losing it and starting from scratch as I feel that people here arent that bothered. |

This had nothing to do vilainde or the crossposting. This has to do with the fact that another member decided, despite claiming to hate everything i post, to enter a thread i had created for the sole purpose hurling ridiculous childish insults. The crossposting was a mistake. Get over it. This is about targeting other members.

Just let it drop, please. It's quite a harmonious board, to be honest. New members are welcomed and there's precious little hostility. |

Christ, this is ridiculous. I was just raising point. There was no need to get all defensive. So what the hell is all this rush to prove me wrong?

because you're wrong?
You said in your first post that this was about 'some users' then later in this thread you said it was about 'another member' ie one.
Which is it? Your first post seemed like an attack on many people. If this is an issue with one person then maybe there was no need to start a thread about it.

Maybe the rush is directly proportionnal to the amount of threads you posted during the last weeks. No personal offense, no offense at all actually, but I've been seing your nickname appearing everywhere, and a lot, on this board. Makes me feel quite weird while fb.net has hundred of members i hardly remember the names even the most active and popular. You don't have to tell what people need to do if you want to communicate with them. You don't have to feel like the victim of a kind of persecution(where?). And, probably, that's only my impression, maybe you don't have to try to get some attention this way. |

I'm refering to "another member" because this happened to me. But i'm not the only one this has happened to, so thats why i said "users". There isn't just one person doing this. I was raising a point from my experience. I'm not attacking anyone. I'm mentioned no names. I only brought up the whole hierarchy of members thing, as it seems to be slightly abused by a few people.

s_wrenn !! As you don't know the person, any insult should be taken non-personally. Come on dude, us irish can take abuse, we give our selves most of it with our self deprecating wit, charm and those irish accents that those foreign birds love :) where did the moniker come from anywas (completely off topic)?

I'm able to take insults. But plain ignorance is just irritating. I don't have a personal vendeta with anyone. So a lot of people need to calm down and smoke one.
"Moniker" as in s_wrenn? It's my name. Seán Wrenn.

Ok.
First of all, the only 'hierarchy' here is that there are 4 moderators (Dave Noisy, Cult of Frank, starmekiten, and myself) that can lock/move/ban/etc. Beyond that is something that is perceived by the individual, and the individual only. There are certain boards where newbies have to wait x ammount of days before posting - not here. Some other boards throttle newbies to posting under 5 posts a day until a certain post count is reached. Not here. All the information on this forum, from the Files section, to the Salon, to the FB/Pixies information is available to any registered user.
This 'hierarchy' you speak of could be, from an outsider's perspective, the community that has simply formed here over the last 3 1/2 years this board has been in existance. Some people are here from the beginning, others are newer, but bonds are formed. I have people on this board that i am friendly with, and some that i am not friendly with. Some people post more than others as well. Kathryn joined this board much later than i did, yet her post count eclipses mine. She has no more power on this site because of her posts than anyone else. She just posts more. This is not hierarchy, this is just how the world goes.
Not only that, but like the real world, some people here won't get along. There is one member who i will not mention who's every post drives me insane. Seriously, they all make me mad. But, i don't say anything and i move on, because i don't want to waste my time. Other people don't have that same filter, and let people know 'you're annoying me.' Do i wish everyone could be nicer? Sure, i do. But that's not how the world is. And i'm not, as a moderator, about to go around and tell everyone who posts something that may or may not be taken as offensive to shut up or leave. That's not how i roll.
Also, you may be having a hard time, as many of us do, distinguishing sarcasm/playful teasing for anger. This is hard to do on a forum, and i myself have been the victim of this bad judgement more than once. Sometimes calling someone, for instnace, a fucking asshole is a major insult. Other times, it can be funny. And that is hard to determine from text on a grey background.
So my advice to you, s_wrenn, is that if someone is being truly 'abusive' talk to them about it, or send a note to a moderator. However, if someone is just annoying you, it may be best to be the bigger message boarder and ignore it.
-Brian

In the spirit of the goodwill and harmony that appears to be somewhat unique to this board, this should be the thread where we talk about the people on the board who really annoy us. Name names, people.

I have played along with remarks and insults in th past. Someone talks shit, and the other person does the same and then it usually ends. There has only been one incident where the joke was buried with more insults. And that's how things just got stupid.
At this stage i think it's better for everyone if this was closed.
