I am starting to DJ one night a week at this Ultralounge in Indianapolis. I am going to be playing a good mix of old and new alternative and indie music. We need to start putting print ads together and I have no idea of what to call this "Indie / Alt" night.
Any creative ideas? I have been milling this over in my head for a week and I got nothin'!
Please help, any input is appreciated.
Oh yeah..and check out their website http://www.subterralounge.com |

Going for a song/album title is usually a good one. There's a alt/indie club night in my town called "Goo", after said SY album. I don't think they've EVER played any SY there, it's full of lame poseurs nowadays.
I say "SUBBACULTCHA". I'm sure that's been used by a load of clubs already though.. .

My friends and I are starting a similar night, perhaps slightly more eclectic. We struggled for ages for a name too. We have gone with 'Excuse' for now.
The problem with a song/band reference is that it implies that it might be a tribute night to those that are going only off the name.
I have always thought that Subbacultcha was a good one though.
EDIT: Hey we should guest at each other's night.
I'd walk her everyday, into a shady place

Not if you stipulate that it's a indie/alt club night underneath on the fliers/posters.

Subbacultcha was my first idea, but maybe something simple like "Stereo" which is also a great Pavement song. Its simple and bold and appealing.

I said for people just going off the name. Like people who hear the name word of mouth, or just see it listed in the paper.

"stereo" is cool, but needs a little more punch to it.
how about "stereo, fuck yeah!!"
you should ask therewererumors to design the flyer

hmmm, it has to be something to make it really discernible, like
Random Audio XP Proffesional Edition v3.96 beta Gold w/ Exp. pack (followed by a list of added features and fixed issues and such)
but for punch this wins

If you reference the name of the location it will make the manager happy.

Siam, if you really want people to come to your club night you should call it "Free Beer".
seriously though, you need a sexy name (and a sexy flyer). here are some i thought of for you:
Girl-on-Girl Stereo Sexual Chocolate (if you want to throw in some R&B) Music inspired by Laetitia Casta Asian Cheerleader Indie Slut Night

Sexy is good. I especially like the Laetitia Casta reference - she has to be the sexiest woman alive. I bought her picture book a couple years ago and somehow she became more sexy. |

Is this the "Savoy Restaurant & Ultra Lounge" "Ice Ultra Lounge" "Gelo Ultra Lounge" "Subterra"
Savoy is the name of a famous dance hall in Harlem,
Savoy, the home of sweet romance Savoy, it wins you at a glance Savoy, give happy feet a chance to dance
Your form, just like a clingy vine Your lips, so warm and sweet as wine Your cheek, so soft and close to mine Devine
How my heart is singin' While the band is swingin' Never tired of rompin' Stompin' with you, at the Savoy What joy
A perfect holiday Savoy, where we can glide and sway Savoy, they'll let me stomp away with you
Chick Webb would kill'm

I kept resisting the urge to suggest "Free Blow Job Night". With college buddies our joke whenever we pulled up to a ballgame with a big crowd was always, "Oh, must be free blow job night."
There was a band in Davis named "Free Beer" a few years back. Their fliers always had FREE BEER in a huge font.
