What does he use? I'm sure this question has been asked many times, but I'm new to the forums so humor me.

What the hell kind of Telecaster is that white one Frank uses throughout the Pixies era?

It was a Japanese made 'Contemporary' model. Relatively scarce nowadays.

Doog, would you consider trading those five guitars for one half eaten cheese and onion sandwich? It's all I've got.

If you look really closely at it, there's a woman with puffy cheeks stamping on squiggly worm things and singing a song about Devon, or something.

I normally would, but I acquired one of those just last week, sorry!

Does anyone have an idea about the model # of that Taylor acoustic Frank uses? He was playing it down at the latest San Fran shows.

I have a Taylor 410-CE. Its probably my favorite guitar I have ever owned.

Maybe.. they pop up every now and then on Ebay.. although it seems Chucky is buying em all up, I read in some interview that he's got like 4 of em. Mine was originally burgundy mist metallic (a sorta orange/purple hue), had to get it refin'd to keep it proper

He played with a dreadnought and a cut-away. Were they both Taylor Guitars?

We got us a Gibson, boys.

Don't like the telecaster myself. Not so good for lead work. I think Frank has tended more towards the Stratocaster in recent years. I use a Vox Maple Custom 24

Frank's still a Tele man. His post a few months ago about his modded Teles was great.

One of his acoustics (the only one i've seen him play actually) is a Takamine. It's the one with the big hole right below the soundhole and a smaller one above it.

He played some rugged Martin at the last UK solo show, in Camden, 2003, I think.

Those Takemines that Frank plays in the Pixies shows are lovely!

Yes, I believe he played a Takamine on the recent Pixies reunion tour.

Didn't he used to play a Washburn of some sort in the early Pixies years?

Here's his Takamine at the Troubadour in Los Angeles 2002. I'd guess the hole is bigger by now.

Hey, cool pictures, fbc. I can't think of any Frank Black songs that have a 12-string in it. I'll bet there are, though.

I used to think 'Ramona' was 12 string until I stopped thinking. The intro especially.

Oh, and Old Black Dawning, too.

I saw him in Cleveland in 2001 and when he played Ramona he used a 6 string and just detuned the high E string to match the B string... Thats why it sounds like a 12, because 2 of the strings are tuned the same.

I could talk myself to death, but I believe I would only waste my breath.
