The other day I was at my local cool record store picking up a few discs from my backlog of 'to buy' material and saw the new John Vanderslice disc there. I've been hearing a lot about him but haven't ever gotten around to checking him out, so I bought it on a whim. Mellower and more rhythm driven than I generally like, but surprisingly still enjoying it. Anyone else listen to him? How does this record compare?
I don't really like my music and politics mixed, but something about the second verse of Exodus Damage really puts a lump in my stomach. I don't believe for a second that the WTCs were allowed to be destroyed, but the way it's expressed in this song really hits me harder than lyrics have hit me for some time. Otherwise, seems like he's trying too hard to fit some of those lyrics into the melody. That chorus gets in my head like crazy though.

I have his two previous albums, but not Pixel Revolt yet. I like Vanderslice more in theory (good producer, apparently super nice guy, good musician) than in actual listening.

Don't know much of him.
I know that his Tiny Telephone website used to host some Mommyheads mp3's, though. That site was the only one that would register on a search for a while. (I think it's his, anyway.)

I have a compilation that my friend did me, but I still haven't listened to it yet.
I'd walk her everyday, into a shady place
