Haha, no but funnily enough when I saw that, I did consider giving it up for 40 days and 40 nights from now. In fact masturbation full stop. I think we should have a bet to see who can go the longest. Like the episode of Seinfeld.

Yeah it would be kind of hard (oh my!), but I have already managed a week anyway.
Just had a look at the one you posted a link to now (I couldn't access it at work)
"I think my wife is still cheating on me. To bust her, I check her cell phone, go through her purse, go through her drawers, go through the pockets in her clothing, go through her car, and I even go through the trash.
What I found out: there is a guy at work (who is also married and also has two kids) who she flirts with, at least. I also found out she's seriously depressed.
What I will do: get a GPS device for her car, and hire a private investigator next time she has another one of those "late meetings". I'll be packed and gone by the time the bitch comes back."
Why don't you ask her why she is depressed first?

"I'm thinking of having a baby with my husband, just because I'm scared that our older kids are almost grown and after they're out on their own, my husband and I will have nothing left to talk about for the next 40 years. On the other hand, I'm also thinking that I only have 5 years to go, and then I can divorce him and be free to do what I REALLY want to do, although I don't have a clue what that might be. Someone needs to smack me upside the head, I think."
Or cut it off you idiot!

Yeah, posts like that scare me from ever becoming attached to anyone. Probably seems normal enough in person and then bam.
Does anyone else think the human race is becoming increasingly selfish? And that at this rate, marriage or any form of symbiotic relationship will soon be obsolete if it isn't already. Everything is 'me'. 'I'. Even products cash in on this. mySpace. iPod. Video on Demand. Etc.
I can think of better and more relevant examples, but then I'd derail this thread. :)
Anyway, some crazy 'secrets'.

Derail a thread? That's my job, Dean!
Seriously: Both of the things Homers quoted? In each "secret" scenario, I know at least one person who has done that.

I agree Dean. I have been thinking this for some time.

Guess what, fellas? Some moms talk like this, not as bluntly, but like this all the time.
At the playground and little kid events I hear all the time stuff like "We're drifting apart and another baby will keep us together."
Not as crude as "I want to trap him" but make no mistake, sometimes women use kids to keep a relationship going.

Oh I am very much aware of it, I just wanted to point out this idiot.
Here's another, this is a great site to shake or nod your head to.
"My ex has major issues...Major anxiety disorder, depression...more than likely bi-polar. He only admits to having Generalized Anxiety. I had been with him for sometime, but just can't take it. he can never make up his mnd on anything. we break up...next day he texts, emails and leaves voicemails.
My secret- The first time I saw him naked...I almost threw up! And he says he only need to lose 15 lbs! Yeah, right! In your dreams fat fuck! I only stayed with him for the great oral sex he gave! I am awful!!!"
You are indeed, but that's just the start of it.

I couldn't agree more Dean. It may sound like a paranoid fantasy but it is my view that people are becoming increaslingly selfish and seem to have no respect for one another these days. Thats why when I've finished this University lark Im going to move somewhere, really isolated and bizarre (an abstract plain of sorts), possibly Death Valley if they'll let me in the country. I'll just while away the hours staring at the sky and listening to my Frank records, in 'Splendid Isolation' as Warren Zevon so accurately describes it. Does anyone else have ever have this fantasy?

Probably because of the first part of your post, I think it's a fairly common feeling so people smart enough to think about these things are getting bred out whilst the selfish flood the gene pool.
It's all very cynical, but thinking about the conversations I've had with people I know over the years it is almost accepted practise to play these stupid games. Get pregnant to trap the guy, pretend you're out with someone else to make him hugely jealous, don't answer his calls for three days so he'll wonder what you're up to, stop having sex with him until he comes up with a ring, go out with guy X not because you like him but because he's available (because being single is less socially acceptable than having the clap)...
When I bump into people I haven't seen for a long time (because I hate them, usually) the first question they always always ask is "are you seeing anyone.." not what job I'm doing, or how my health is or a bunch of other far more interesting stuff. Always that. When I say no, the reaction is always a false sympathy. You try explaining to these morons that single is a choice. They don't get it.
People depress the hell out of me.
I'm still getting married one day. Pessimism, cynicism and idealism; it's a winning combination!
anyway, secrets.

Uh, I don't think marriage protects from selfishness... That would be a scoop :)

Haha, no, I'm just saying that marriages don't have a chance when people are selfish - not that selfish people don't get married.
Tre, you make an interesting argument though I don't know if being selfish gets passed on to kids or not. If so then I guess that, like in the wild, looking out for yourself means survival and we're seeing that. I'm sure Erebus would agree.
Still, I agree with you, I still hope to get married someday in spite of it all, but I remember a time when it didn't fill me with fear. Still, with my tech skills, I'll be able to spy like crazy and then post about it on a "secrets" site on the net to appease my guilt temporarily.

In addition to women trying to trap men by getting knocked up, another theme on that site is women worrying that they're too fat.
sample:
"There's this guy I've been talking to on the phone and I reeeeally like him. Problem? He seems to be really athletic and I'm not. I am bit overweight.. Not like hugely or anything but enough so it's noticeable.. I want to meet him but at the same time I don't. I'm afraid he'll see me as fat and forget the two and three hour conversations we have. "

Yeah, K, I noticed that vibe, though not specific to women. Lots of guys saying they thought they weren't attractive, wish they had known when they were younger that it was possible for girls to be attracted to them, etc.
I actually fit into that boat. There was this girl that I and several friends had a crush on in highschool, just easily the most pretty girl there. Her and I were on the same bus and it was an hour long ride daily, so we chatted often enough and flirted occasionally too. Anyway, I, now that I look back, can see she definitely liked me too. Quite a bit, even. It's so obvious and actually hilariously so. I remember her telling me about a fantasy with a "Greek god" she meets out one night (come on, who thinks of themselves this way? couldn't be about me) and another one about driving home with hot guy and they stop and he stands through the sunroof and she traps him there and... ANYWAY, we also drove each other/my cousin(s) to and from school on certain days. And I had a sunroof. And...
But at the time, she was the hottest girl in school and I was some g(r)eek and most of the girls hadn't even bothered attempting to talk with me. In any case, I noticed that theme but maybe because I'm painfully aware of it in myself. These days I might notice some looking but still assume it's not me. So I've improved marginally
Anyway, there's my secret, except I don't consider it a secret at all, but at least there's hope that it's on topic.

I WAS wondering Kathryn!
On a side note, did any of you see the article about that web site where people posted their secrets and the web-site logged all their i.p. adresses and blackmailed them to their bosses, husbands, wives?
I did like the one about the boss' coffee cup and the bonus "espresso" shot the co-worker put in there. <sorry>
I have two friends who were living in NYC during a summer and one took the mayo that the other used every day, and , well...never mind.
