there are some things you don't tell a pixies fan. number one on that list is "you are going to hear a new pixies song", UNLESS you really are going to hear a new pixies song. just my opinion.

I didn't even do that when I started the Bam Thwok thread. I just told people they COULD hear a new song if they went to the Apple website, after making damn sure I wasn't dreaming the whole thing. I didn't want to feel the wrath of the whole forum.

Actually, the saying is usually "I couldn't agree more" which means, I guess, I'm agreeing as much as is humanly possible. In this case, I could agree more is a less-than-clever play on that saying, basically, I disagree. :)

Though I'd be pretty choked if I got my hopes up and then turned out to just be a regular FB song. Still... I think there was a pretty awesome exclusive in there.

Tell you what, next time I'll listen to the podcast then I'll have some idea of what you're talking about, rather than just wading in correcting people left right and centre.

Who am I kidding, I'm still going to do that.

Yeah, we also say "head over heels" instead of "heels over head." We're totally ass-backwards.

Of course, in Canada, they say "head over feet." Because Alanis Morissette DOES represent the entire country, right?

you know at least they haven't ruled out a new album. I mean maybe there are real issues why they haven't recorded or maybe it's just a publicity stunt. I really don't care which. I say if it's right for them release an new ep or lp or even single. I will buy what ever.

If they don't release, that's cool. It's their life and they can make their own decisoins. I think it would be a really hard decision to make.

There are plenty of phrases that annoy me. For instance, "same difference". What the fuck does that mean? Last time I checked, similarities and differences are opposites.

Has anyone considered the possibility that Frank is quietly resentful of his success with The Pixies VS. his success since The Pixies? Maybe he's just playing "hard to get". I am a fan of his entire body of work, but i'm sure there many outside this forum who are partial to his work with The Pixies. Just a thought. Any Frank is good Frank.

Although you phrased this as speculation, I think it's rather presumptuous to put these kinds of thoughts in someone's head. I mean does there to need to be a psychoanalysis to explain his musical choices? to explain why he never played the Happening on the latest Pixies tour? Have you ever considered that he may have an alien mistress and a half alien illegitimate child in Utah and that the aliens threatened retribution if he ever transmitted the frequencies of that song?

Touche. I am aware of my tendency to over-simplify. However, my statement is hardly a psychoanalysis. I have simply questioned Frank's motives, just as you have questioned mine. "Playing hard to get" is but one of many foolish possibilities. Realistically, many others, perhaps even Frank have had this or similar thoughts. Please do not scold me because I have put one of them into text. We are all big boys and girls here. We should all show some resiliency and realize that one person's opinion, as scary as it may be, should not have a profound effect on what we truly believe.

"Nirvana changed music forever". To me, that is the worst thing you could say to a Pixies fan. Smells Like Teen Spirit really should have been titled Smells Like The Pixies. To Kurt's credit however, i'm sure that he had no idea that his band would take over the airwaves and create an army of salivating "alterna-youngsters".
