Well, even so Thomas... it's good work.
And Marsist, I do think you are some sort of god.
- Just to keep up with the Star Wars references.
I'll add those when I get home. Busy today.

They are, but the way the DB is we need an album to file it under so I have no place to put them, SO in short I guess it would be a waste of time. Thanks though, you've made a HUGE dent in the todo list for the SongDB.

Another song I've not heard... should that be who's (i.e. who is) or is it meant to be a poetic way of asking who wrote it instead of who is writing it?
Also, 'walks' from the second verse? Typo or intentional?

Actually, I was just looking at the db, I CAN enter the songs without having an album attached, but the only way to access is by searching, so I will add those songs Marsist, if you'd like to transcribe.
Other songs: Everyone Is Wrong (Lyle Workman) I'm Going Down (Springsteen) Chinese Firedrill (Mike Watt) Big Bang Theory (have to listen/get those lyrics) Breathless (?) Letters from the Wasteland (Wallflowers - FB does backing vocals on this) Mother Popcorn Local Girls Let's Think About It 119 Years Ago Jail Guitar Doors Take What You Want Down In the Hole Snake Oil Ludwigshafen Go Home Girl Old John Amos
Plus the demos. I'll see what Tre says about adding in the Pixies albums, singles, b-sides, etc. Though she'd probably need help for that, she's got enough to do in the next while. Plus I was looking at some songs from even FB and TOTY and a song like Ole for Mulholland had nothing but lyrics (I've added a little). So plenty more yet after that. But the DB is getting in better and better shape.
Thanks again to everyone helping.

Close your eyes = I need peace Played for the first Peel Session with the Catholics (17 02 1996)
Close your eyes Or you'll have a lot of tears to cry So hey now if you're wise You won't open up your eyes
And hold your ears 'Cause you don't really want to hear The things that give you tears So put your fingers in your ears
And if you sleep Well, you better not go too deep 'Cause bad things they will seep Right down into your sleep
Close your eyes Or you'll have a lot of tears to cry So hey now if you're wise You won't open up your eyes

Atlantis
The continent of Atlantis was an island which lay before the great flood in the area we now call the Atlantic Ocean. So great an area of land, that from her western shores those beautiful sailors journeyed to the South and the North Americas with ease, in their ships with painted sails. To the East Africa was a neighbour, across a short strait of sea miles. The great Egyptian age is but a remnant of The Atlantian culture. The antediluvian kings colonised the world All the Gods who play in the mythological dramas In all legends from all lands were from fair Atlantis. Knowing her fate, Atlantis sent out ships to all corners of the Earth. On board were the Twelve: The poet, the physician, the farmer, the scientist, The magician and the other so-called Gods of our legends. Though Gods they were. And as the elders of our time choose to remain blind Let us rejoice and let us sing and dance and ring in the new Hail Atlantis!
Way down below the ocean where I wanna be she may be Way down below the ocean where I wanna be she may be Way down below the ocean where I wanna be she may be Way down below the ocean where I wanna be she may be ...
Down in the Hole
Will all your money Buy you forgiveness Keep you from sickness keep you from cold
Will all your money Keep you from madness Keep you from sadness When you're down in the hole
Cause you'll be down in the gutter You'll be bumming for cigarettes Bumming for nylons In the American Zone
You'll be down in the hole Yeah, down in the hole No escape from trouble Nowhere to go
Down in the gutter Begging for cigarettes Begging forgiveness All that you know
Down in the hole After digging the trenches Looking for cover and finding out there ain't nowhere nowhere to go Nowhere nowhere nowhere to go
None of your money Will buy you forgiveness None of your jewelry None of your gold
Your black market cigarettes Your American nightclubs Ah, they've got nowhere left
Something for nothing All of your friends gone Something for nothing That's all that you know
There's something down in the hole Down down down in the hole There's something down down down down in the hole |

Jewel
On Reeves Gabrels' "ULYSSES (DELLA NOTTE)" album.
The first verse is sung by Frank Black and Dave Grohl, the second verse is David Bowie and Reeves, and the choruses are Reeves and Frank Black.
(Grohl, Black backup): I'm leaving my heart, a boy's heart I'm leaving it far behind I'm going for mine, I'm painting my lips Yeah, I'm getting my shoes shined I'm leaving my heart, my bleeding heart My shiny shoes, my rosy cheeks I cut out my heart, I open the door I'm so happy without my heart (Black) Now I'm screaming "Oh my jewel" so happily Without my heart (Black) I am a man and I am cruel, I'm the king of cruelty (Black) I'm the king of cruelty
(Bowie): I believe my face, a girl's face I believe my face is one of a kind I point the stars and roll my eyes They poison my young mind Believe my face, the charming face My poison eyes, believe my eyes I roll up my sleeves, I rock on my heels But I'm nothing without my face (Gabrels) And now I'm screaming "Oh my jewel" so happily I'm lonely without my face (Gabrels) I am a man and I am cruel, I'm the king of cruelty I'm nothing without my face (Gabrels) But now I'm screaming "Oh my jewel" so happily (Gabrels) I am a man and I am cruel, I'm the king of cruelty (Gabrels) I'm the king of cruelty (Gabrels) I'm the king of cruelty
(Black): And now I'm screaming "Oh my jewel" so happily I am a man and I am cruel, I'm the king of cruelty And now I'm screaming "Oh my jewel" so happily I am a man and I am cruel, I'm the king of cruelty And now I'm screaming "Oh my jewel" so happily
(Black, down an octave): I am a man and I am cruel, I'm the king of cruelty And now I'm screaming "Oh my jewel" so happily I am a man and I am cruel, I'm the king of cruelty And now I'm screaming "Oh my jewel" so happily I am a man and I am cruel, I'm the king of cruelty Now I'm screaming I am a man, I am Now I'm screaming -- LA! Sugar Daddy
I've got a sweet tooth For licorice drops and jelly roll Hey Sugar Daddy Hansel needs some sugar in his bowl I'll lay out fine china on the linen And polish up the chrome If you've got some sugar for me Sugar Daddy bring it home
Black strap molasses You're my orange blossom honey bear Bring me Versace blue jeans And black designer underwear We'll dress up like the disco-dancing jet set In Milan and Rome If you got some sugar for me Sugar Daddy bring it home
Oh the thrill of control Like the rush of rock and roll It's the sweetest taste that I have ever known If you've got some sugar bring it home
When honey bees go shopping It's something to be seen They swarm to wild flowers And get nectar for the queen And every thing you bring me got me dripping like a honeycomb And if you've got some sugar for me Sugar Daddy bring it home
Oh the thrill of control Like a Blitzkrieg on the roll It's the sweetest taste that I have ever known So if you've got some sugar Bring it home Oh come on Sugar Daddy bring it home
Whiskey and French cigarettes A motorbike with high speed jets A Waterpik and a Cuisinart And a hypoallergenic dog I want all the luxuries of the modern age And every item on every page In the Lillian Vernon catalogue
Oh baby something's crossed my mind And I was thinking that you'd look so fine In a velvet dress With heels and an ermine stole Oh Luther darling heaven knows I've never put on women's clothes Except for once My mother's camisole
So you think only a woman can truly love a man Well you buy me the dress I'll be more woman than a man like you can stand I'll be your Venus on a chocolate clam shell rising on a sea of marshmallow foam and if you got some sugar for me Sugar Daddy bring it home
It's our tradition to control like Erich Honecker and Helmut Kohl from the Ukraine to the Rhone Sweet home uber alles I'm coming home I'm coming home Come on Sugar Daddy bring me home Come on Sugar Daddy please won't you bring me home Come on Sugar Daddy bring me home |

Jail guitar doors
originally by the clash
Let me tell you bout Wayne and his deals of cocaine A little more every day Holding for a friend till the band do well Then the D.E.A. locked him away
Clang clang, go the jail guitar doors Bang bang, go the boots on the floor Cry cry, for your lonely mother's son Clang clang, go the jail guitar doors
An' I'll tell you 'bout Pete, didn't want no fame Gave all his money away "Well there's something wrong, it'll be good for you, son" And so they certified him insane
And then there's Keith, waiting for trial Twenty-five thousand bail If he goes down you won't hear his sound But his friends carry on anyway Fuck 'em! Jail guitar doors 54/46 was my number Jail guitar doors Right now someone else has that number
'
the last question mark on ludwigshafen sounds like care to me
"I do not have a care"
thats right you tell em frank

not sure of the other guy on this songs name
Go On Home
Well now me and frank We’re the best of friends And our friend-ship will never end But it would hurt him so for him to know that I love his girlfriend
Well the love of a girl and the love of a friend Are two things you can’t compare So my heart will ache I will let it break Cause I know it just ain’t fair So go on home girl Lets call it a night Just go on home girl Cause it just aint right
But before you go I want you to know That I love ya yes I do Though it may break my heart But darling we must part Cause I know frank loves you to
(frank) Well you say that we Could make him see We have a love that’s really real But I think that he is just like me And I don’t know how he feels But darling I do know It would hurt him so If you told him that it must end And I could never hold The love I stole From a man I called my best friend
So go on home girl Im bad for you You know I love you But he does too
Go on home girl Please go home (repeat)

Snake oil
I need snake oil To rub my feet Because they’re sore From walking the floor My face is pale My mind gone stale law on my tail And a wild wild woman Wants me put in jail
Snake oil (x4) Yeh yeh yes I need snake oil
(awesome solo)
I need snake oil to rub my head To ease the pain in my brain Societys not for me Its Got me drinking Chablis And a wild wild woman Try to put the clinch on me
Snake oil (4) Yeh yeh yeh I need snake oil (x2)

Letters from the Wasteland
Now coming down Out of this swandive to your arms I make no sounds WhenI move thru your reservoirs I wake up quick I wake up sick As you abandon me Into these fields of rank and file Thru this cloudI hear you breathing Thru these barsI watch them bring more in
NowI send back letters from the wasteland home Last slowdance to this romance on my own May take two to tango, but boy it takes one to let go It just takes one to let go.
Now boy keep still Don't spread yourself around Get back in line Eat your bread And just work the ground
'Cause you're not through They're not done with with you Did you think you were The only one who's been let down So sleep tight little boys of the new dam Let them drop in the quicksand
NowI send back letters from the wasteland home Last slowdance to this romance on my own May take two to tango, but boy it takes one to let go
Now another bad idea gets thru Down they send me unto you Every bridgeI should have burned Every lesson i've unlearned When the smoke give way to ruins Incarcerated lovesick fools I wait for you to cut me loose But until then
NowI send back letters from the wasteland home Last slowdance to this romance on my own May take two to tango, but boy it takes one to let go NowI send back letters from the wasteland home From whereI slowdance to this romance on my own

i agree with everything except the last line. definitly sounds like clinch as opposed to hurt
