Someone deserves a beating for being overrated?
I'd walk her everyday, into a shady place

This is one of those ones thats next on my list. And I'll admit I'm getting it only because it's one of those lauded records that all these famous people say you should get. |

Montreal. Which may or may not make them a Canadian band.

K did you just know that off the top of your head?
Mike's quite the metalhead so yes he's going to brag about it every chance he gets. Way back in the day I dragged him to a Weezer concert in Calgary. And that first bassist they had was talking about brushing up on his Canadiana by buying some Rush and Voivod albums. They kept playing little Rush or Voivod riffs. It made Mike's night worthwhile to say the least.

Matter of fact I did. But I only yesterday learned that 60 % of Canada's population is in Ontario.
I got some heaven in my head

Canadiaann blabla... coming back to the topic, two words: The Doors they turns me sleepy and boring (except live things that got more jamming... but i still prefer The Grateful Dead yeah!)

i had the pleasure of falling asleep during one of Eric Clapton's long-long-droning on-long-still going guitar solos last night watching Cream's reunion thingy. Remind me not to listen to them again. Could be good/could be lame, i'm really not bothered. Sorry, Clap!
I felt a little sorry for the drummer having to keep the beat going for what seemed like an age, and having to listen to that noise as well. |

yeah, pretty much any band that makes "jamming" a part of their stage show is a lost cause for me. I saw the dead back in the eighties with Dylan and Tom Petty. They opened the show, and half the crowd walked out when they finished. lol, buncha stoner deadheads.

the problem on the jamming is how you do it... think of jazz there a millons of jazz mens but only a few are knowns cos of their inspiration or creative way to do it.
When a jam session begains start a dialog a comunication between the "jammers" they are talkig all the time about good things, bad things, they fight, they find friendly melodys to follow, and that is all about. Bad Jammings are those which play to an audience, depending on them, they dont care about the "internal music commuinication".

Saw a tiny bit of that (and the documentary before it), I just saw a bit with Jack Bruce singing, and I couldn't tell if it was a Cream reunion or a Jack Bruce concert!

Definitely over-rated. Some great songs, but most of their albums are very half-baked overall!

Yeah, I've always thought of the doors as a second-rate blues band with a third-rate poet for a singer.

Right, like you guys could come up with the line "I am the lizard king, I can do anything" on your own.
Morrison was basically a happy drunk with a microphone. Although I always thought it was admirable how Ray Manzerik did the bass with one hand and regular keys with the other.
But that crap ass Oliver Stone movie didn't do much to help their legacy either. |

I saw about an hour. I think Eric Clapton's a great guitarist (by my standards) but he didn't half let me know. I much prefer to watch and listen to Jimi Hendrix.
(ha! just turned the channel over and Eric's still off on one) |

That's because Val Kilmer is an ass.
I do like jazz/blues so something like Roadhouse Blues is good to me.
