did you notice that the chicago date is listed as oct 25 on the backporch site? this must be a typo because the other dates line up with the foo fighters shows, and i assume that they meant to list the chicago foo fighters show on aug 25. but, its enough to make me curious. |

Hey Jon. I don't know if you're still around to answer questions, but..
..I was listening to 'If Your Poison Gets You' the other day and wondered who plays drums? And please don't tell me the FastMan cats nailed this one first time around.
I love it, anyway. Job well done!

Where has everyone found their advance copy of FM/RM? Are you allowed to say? Just point me in the right direction, just say follow the black cat or something, I'll know what you mean. Pwomise I'll buy it when it comes out. |

Drums on "If Your Poison" is actually a combination of Levon Helm and Billy Block, with Simon Kirke on tambourine. And if it wasn't the first take, it was certainly didn't take more than three---I think it was the first COMPLETE take. And lonely persuader, that's me on alto sax, and I didn't know that "naff" is now a word that has positive connotations. Thank you for the lovely compliment. bye, Jon Tiven |

The tracks timing and playing is a joy to listen to, and Frank's voice sounds great. Please, talk some more about IYPGY whenever you feel like it.
(one for the road: Did you use the Nashville Number System on FM/RM, JT?) |

In The Time Of My Ruin... The arrangements are incredible. Who found the double guitar note that double the chords? Is Eric Drew Feldman playing on that song? I kinda recognize his style...

Duane Jarvis-gtr, P.F. Sloan-piano, Jim Keltner-drums, Carol Kaye-bass, Dave Phillips-pedal steel, Frank Black-vocals.
Eric is a great musician and a lovely cat but was not a part of these sessions.

Listening to the new b side collection along with Fast Man Raider Man, I thought Frank Black is ALLWAYS a super gifted and subtle composer but sometimes a bit hurry to record! Imagine what could give a song like "Constant sorrow man" recorded in the FMRM sessions... His compositions allways include some subttle touch, I mean, he's not The Stooges, but some catholics albums were recorded just like the stooges. Well, i guess it sounds like another obscure theory... |

Just pre-ordered FMRM from play.com, the tension is unbearable.
However the excitement has been pucntured somewhat by the fact that everyone on this forum seems to have had a copy of this album for months now. It will just be me on the 19th, going 'yippee' and everyone else will be like 'FMRM? thats soooo last month'.

I've already listened to it but still can't wait for the official release. I was meant to be going on a trip to the zoo with one of my classes in college but when I found out it was on the same day I cancelled my place.
Zoos are shit anyway.

6 days to go... Hmmm, still seems like a long time, though I can see light.......
Btw I saw a picture [on ebay] of a US/Back Porch advance CD that was copy controlled. Please tell me the standard version/s will not be C.C. That would be a nightmare.

Wasn't Honeycomb DRM'd too? I hate that garbage and wouldn't buy the CD were it from anyone but Frank. I have a long standing policy against buying products that are intentionally limited/unusable for what I'm interested in.

I had my local record shopkeep order it for me - he's an old grouch who doesn't bring anything in the store for general consumption that he doesn't own/love - which is why he has like 200 pieces of inventory. So you have to special order anything new/good, but he doens't charge you anything to order something, just a deposit - so i ordered 4 discs, one being FM/RM and i'll pick up a second copy for friend/family distribution someplace with Soundscan to help that way too.
