X-mas shopping with the lady today and it got us thinking about our worst ever presents recieved. It is the thought that counts I know, but some just suck through and through. Hers was a DVD of the Elvis movie Kissin' Cousins and mine ironically was the Top Gun soundtrack given to me by a cousin, even though it did have "Playin' with the Boys" by that 80's stud muffin Kenny Loggins.

When I was 15, we had a neighbor who gave his wife about a hundred bucks worth of cleaning supplies. Detergent, soap, mop heads, etc.
It's the thought that counts. |

Talk about romantic: first Xmas with Mr. Kathryn he gave me a frying pan. I never cooked in it. Gave it away soon after.
I got some heaven in my head

when I was 15 my sister bought me a go west album, as I sat there in my ramones t-shirt opening it, I recall looking up, a horrified look on my face and saying do you not know me at all!

Shocking.
I'm sure he could have bought all that for less than 50 bucks.

A friend bought me the soundtrack to "The Players Club"
He didn't understand why he could never catch me listening to it.

One year a blew all the xmas-gift money my parents had given me on myself. I had just enough left over to buy something for my mom.
I bought her a fart extinguisher. WTF?

The first sentence would be hilarious had you not followed it with "No, not really." |

I have. I remember thinking at least one of their songs was pretty good, but I don't remember what it sounded like. I like the album they did with the Minus 5, but I would imagine that's more Scott McCaughey's doing than Wilco's.

i was in my mid 20's.
extended family gift exchange - $5 limit. I mean - 5 bucks. be creative, you know? my stick-in-the mud aunt drew me..names were drawn at t-giving with gifts exchanged at christmas.
on the way with my sister im lamenting the long-standing problems i have with most of my family and I said something like "if i get a five dollar bill, i'll shit. no one could be that thoughtless."
sure enough.
five one-dollar bills rolled tightly in a rubber band...placed in a rather nice little carboard box and wrapped..as if it were something..as if she thought about it long and hard while she was rolling them up.
yeah.
and you guys wonder why i never call.

Just last Christmas I got one of those hats that has a little pom pom on top, ear flaps, and ties under your chin. Now, don't get me wrong, those are really cute on 6 year olds but... I was 30 years old!!! Give me a break! |
