"Millennium, which describes "Rambo IV" as a return to the franchise's original roots, recently announced plans to produce "Poe," a film about Edgar Allen Poe, with Stallone helming before seguing to "Rambo IV."
I've read that a few times and still can't understand it. Sly is going to be in a movie about Edgar Allen Poe? That's going to fucking awesome. "Yo, Raven."
PS why is this a game? |

By the way, it's Allan, not Allen. I suppose Sly wrote the article himself.

In Rambo 3 the Taliban were the good guys so youŽd need some nifty writing to navigate yer way round that.

Poe is a very old project of Sly's, I remember hearing about it many moons ago... At the time I was horrified because I thought he was going to star as EAP, but it doesn't look like this is going to be the case. Last I heard, Robert Downey Jr. was supposed to play Poe, unless I'm entirely mistaken.
Remember when there was talk of Mick Jagger starring in "The Picture Of Dorian Grey"? I remember it being mentioned during a Morrissey interview. "I'd be less shocked if you'd told me they'd chosen Bugs Bunny."

Robert Downey Jr is a good choice. even though Sylvester Stallone did some seriously cheesy ass films, he's not without talent. i mean, he fucking wrote the first ROCKY, which, say what you will, is a good film.
i know a guy in Baltimore (poe's hometown) who's been trying to get a Poe film off the groud for a long time. he's like a huge Poe scholar. i remember him saying something about how they're going to be demolishing Poe's house for some reason. and he wanted to shoot the movie there before they did so. cuz it would be awesome to shoot in his actual house.
he also had this elaborate, based-on-semi-convincing-evidence theory that Poe was actually murdered . something about the rights to his books or something..
anyway.. |

There was a flick I saw 23 or 500 years ago on the Elvira - Mistress of the Dark TV show called The Spectre of Edgar Allan Poe starring Robert Walker, Jr. (Charlie 'X' from Star Trek...also, how close is that to Robert Downey, Jr.?). It was some corny, gory, shlocky, no-budget horror yarn about Poe murdering women (!) in Europe (!!)...obviously the filmakers were confused with Jack the Ripper...or just didn't care. Anyhow...I hope Stallone uses this movie as the basis for his rewrite! And Dolph Lundgren could play Poe!

Yah, why would Poe need to go to Europe to murder women when Busch Gardens was right down the road.
