As i emailed Old Man, my reasons for calling the thread the nadir of the forum:
1) Most importantly, it has turned into a thread of
name calling and accusations. There is no place for
that on FB.net, in this moderator's humble opinion.
2) It is, for all intents and purposes, fan fiction,
which leaves a real sour taste in my mouth.
3) It proves that there is no real FB info out there
to discuss, so we literally have to create something
to discuss. Which means that the forum doesn't have
as much juice and life as it once did.
4) It is something that if i were Frank Black, and i
read, i'd turn around and never come back to the forum
again. Which is the #1 reason to move it to general
chat, a place he has never posted.

Starmekitten, Yes I have lost my cool here and posted some confrontationally posts, but for the most part if I don't like a thread or some posts in a thread I simply move on to another thread.
I certainly respect the idea that folks are free to post their thoughts here (for the most part), but I try not to interrupt a thread just to post my displeasure with it, it just strikes me a being rude.

Also, please try to do a better job of moderating so that Frank will come around more often...
And if you look closely enough I'm sure you can find some other threads or posts that, in your opinion, will take fb.net beyond the point of nadir that this thread has....

i don't take kindly to people telling me to "do my job better." this is a job i don't get paid for, and that takes up a lot of my time. the only comments i (usually) get are "where are the moderators?" well you know what, one of us was taking some time for himself (dean), one isn't around all that much (dave), and i have a full time job, as well as a part time job, i'm fighting off a cold, i had to euthanize my dog a few weeks ago and i'm trying to put a record together. oh yeah, and i attempt a social life. so please, spare me the 'do your job better' comments.
not only that, but never once did i 'censor' this thread. i simply moved it to the place where it should be - where threads exist that are not discussing frank black. this is discussing fantasy, which is fine for general chat, but not for the frank black section.
that being said, its water under the bridge as far as i'm concerned as long as a) the name calling stops, and b) i'm given at least a pinch of respect in terms of what i attempt to do as a moderator here. i'm not perfect, crucify me.

i never said this had anything to do with your posts richard. i said that that thread was, in my solitary opinion, the shittiest thread in the history of this website. that's my opinion, and i'm entitled to it. i see no reason for you to continue to harp on the fact that you don't agree with my opinion. every other day many people here sings the praises of r.e.m. and morrissey, bands who i hate, and i don't need to argue with them over it all day. i respect your opinion that this thread DOESN'T suck, i think it does, and that's that. my actions in moving the thread and my opinions on it are not related. so this is pretty much a moot point.

Well, lets see, you criticised his ability to do his job, you swore at him and you insinuated that he was looking to censure, something I find quite unlikely.
As for the 'weird'ness: I was expressing my opinion, certainly, but also trying to offer an objective view as well. I'm pretty sure an outsider would consider this thread slightly creepy, and this has nothing to do with my like or dislike of the thread.

People commented and called for the mod where this thread was concerned because everyone on this forum likes it for the opportunity to sometimes chew the fat with Frank and get info straight from the hoss as it were. Rude? as soon as someone criticises you start swearing up a storm. Brian has been rational and reasonable. I've told you why I think this thread is weird and it's because you talk about Frank in creepily intimate terms, he looked at what side you sit your manhood and how it's the same side as him? thats weird. Sharing a bunk bed? thats weird. If it puts the guy who this forum is about, off, then that is the problem like there, and I think it would. I don't think I'm the only one who thinks this either.
As for where the fuck as he been, that'll be doing his job and having his life outside the forum as well. At the moment Brian is all we have and he's doing a damn fine job.

My underlying point if you had read between the lines, and I admit it wasn't very clear, was that your performance as a moderator will not bring Frank around here more often nor will it cause him to stay away...I'll try to do a better job of explicitly stating what I intend to say in order to avoid this type of confusion in the future.

Hey Man, Whatever, this whole thing started when daynara posted that this thread was "the stupidest thread on the internet, and no wonder Frank doesn't post here anymore" and then Starmekitten posted that the thread was creepy.
I took offense to their comments about my posts and I've tried to defend my posts based on the tenet that there are "different strokes for different folks" and if you don't like what I'm posting, then you don't have to be rude about, simply don't read my posts...
I mean none of my posts called anyone out, or started any shit with anyone...
I was surprised and offended at their comments and I acted accordingly...

I suppose you didn't call out anyone specifically. I think you've responded to a couple of people expressing their opinions in a totally inordinate and excessive manner. We both have the priviledge of being able to freely express our own opinions. Therefore, I don't think it's right for you to suggest (which you are essentially doing) that if we don't like what you're posting in a thread then we shouldn't post there, because it's our priviledge to do so. I don't think it's right for you to insinuate left, right and centre that people are being rude to you, when they clearly aren't.
Maybe we should just draw a line under it, and let this thread get back to it's original course. If you feel it's right to start a thread in General Frank Black chat along the same lines, no one will prevent you from doing so. If you wish to continue debating sharing a bed with Frank Black here, or what ever you might wish to discuss, then please feel free to do so. Just don't take offence if other people take offence; I'm sure you can understand that the tone and direction this thread was taking would be considered unusual and possibly even offensive to some.

Well, I found some of it interesting and amusing and funny in most cases. Some of the post aka the director re-write section requested was a good one to request to have written a re write.
Sorry if this offended people or creeped people out or people took it seriously. I think some of the more tastess commments were ignored and the thread kept going despite those comments and sort of well ignore those comments. I thought it was just an creative silly diversion and a way to keep some life flowing through what was once an active forum.
I think OMIACC and I were just tryin' to have a good time. Brian, sorry you see this thread as the nadir of this whole forum.
OMIACC, since I guess our attempt at "screen writing" if you could call it that was so bad, I guess we should stick to our day jobs.
