The writer credited with starting the postmodern novel died Saturday at home in England. He was 79 and wrote some kick-ass books, including "The Magus" and "The Collector."

Any other fans here?

Hey K,

I just read the news. It is sad. So many cool people checking out. Must be something in the air!? It is a shame, I haven't thought about him in so long and now that I read his name it tells me he is dead. So is life I guess!

The only thing about John Fowles that wasn't cool was that he wasn't Canadian, eh?

IŽve read The Collector and Ebony Tower and loved them both, maybe IŽll finish Mantissa this week.

I've seen some of the film of The French Lieutenant's Wife. That's the full extent of my exposer to him. RIP.
