Alright, this may have been partially inspired by Stephen Fry, but thats fine: share some fancy words or phrases, its just a bit of fun.

Myaclonic jerk: the feeling you get when you're sleeping like you're falling off a step. No-one really knows why this is done, but its conjectured that it stems from when man slept in trees, basically to stop him falling off.

Ooh! I have one.

A sinecure that is.

Scordatura: Italian musical term for detuning one's stringed instrument.

Autonomic system: bodily doodad makes instantaneous adjustments to bloodpressure and heart rate when you do something like stand up to counteract gravity resulting in bloodrush to head.

Patina, I've had this word stuck in my head since hearing it on the Antiques Road Show a week or two ago.

A thin greenish layer, usually basic copper sulfate, that forms on copper or copper alloys, such as bronze, as a result of corrosion.
The sheen on any surface, produced by age and use.
A change in appearance produced by long-standing behavior, practice, or use: a face etched with a patina of fine lines and tiny wrinkles.

apophasis \uh-PAH-fuh-sis\ noun

: the raising of an issue by claiming not to mention it

Example sentences:

"And I won't even mention my opponent's dismal record on environmental issues," said the candidate, using apophasis to take a jab at her rival.

"I won't even mention the fact that I slept with LBF's mom last night. I think that goes without saying.."

It's a good scrabble word

QUINCUNX

Five objects arranged so that four are at the corners of a square or rectangle and the fifth is at its centre.

Take a look at a dice (a die if you’re American), or the five of a suit of cards. In each case the dots or pips are arranged in this distinctive shape.

which happens to be one of my favourite sites.

Adiaphorous = neutral
Rhabdoidal = rod shaped

A very useful one i find is exophagy which is the practice amongst cannibals of not eating one's relatives or members of one's tribe.
