There isn't much news right now so i guess we have to make our own topics.

But one great thing about frank is the drastic changes in the middle of songs. I especially like So. Bay. The sound for most of the song is rocking and dirty. But then the ending is so pretty and soft its amazing. Its like a sunny day at the end of a storm. Another great example is the Hostess with the Mostest.

The beginnings to both of these songs are still good but I feel like frank is intentionally setting us up for the ending.

There is another little known band from England called the Beatles that does this sometimes like Happiness is a Warm gun.

Can you guys think of other songs with this pattern?

Los Angeles starts kinda mellow, then goes all loud and violent(sort of), then switches back to a more acoustic sound which is quite beautiful and really relaxing.

So Hard To Make Things Out.

I enjoy most of FB's lyrics but it's always his music that does all the talking.

I suppose the Pixies' "The Happening" has a beautiful ending. The last part of the song sounds nothing like the intro. It's so much softer and the music and lyrics always gave me the impression of freedom from what most Pixies songs sound like.

How about The Sad Punk. (I know I'm just naming Pixies songs but I only have 5 Frank Black albums, including Frank Black Francis)

I didn't intend to rip you off or anything, I just thought it sounded pretty good.

Big Red, Superabound and I´ve Seen Your Picture all set you up to think you´re in for a boring ride upon the first listen, what with the deep whispering vocals and slow tempo, but then launch into amazing chorus/verses. Never has he done this better than on Superabound.

Humboldt County Massacre is a muddy sounding song, but the crashing chords intro is definately (but purposely) off-keyed and ugly, while the end of the song is quite nice.

Mmhh... let me disagree. The outro is what bothers me in this song. I know it's Spooner Oldham playing and all, but I find this piano solo weak. **ducks**

I don't like "Kicked in the Taco" much... that is until it kicks into the whole "message of love" part... To me, that ending is a freakin' beautiful end to an otherwise ugly song... ;) Does that count?
