This is probably old news, but I was just reading this on the Morrissey-solo web site.

~~~~~~~~~
In Clash magazine issue 9 there was an interview with Frank Black on his latest album, but he said this of Morrissey:
Kim Taylor Bennett: You always said you would do a collaboration with Morrissey in a second. Have you ever met him?
Frnk Black:Yeah, I had tea with him. But that'll never happen. I don't think it would be his cup of tea. I said something in some old interview that I didn't like his first solo record. I was just young, talking shit. Apparently he reads all his press and saw that and he wasn't going to work with me. That's what I heard anyway. That's why we were having tea, because this other dude was trying to get us together to write some songs. But I think Morrissey was like "That's the guy who said that thing". I mean he didn't say that to me, he was a perfect gentleman. He had his reasons. I can't blame him. I feel bad. I don't know why I said anything; I don't know what I was talking about! I was probably stoned when I said it.
I would like to read the original interview where he critisises Morrissey. A the same time... I would understand why he did such a thing. And when you read what Morrissey said about Bowie during the "promotion" of his latest (boring) album you feel like he deserved what Frank said about him (though I don't know precisely what! and this is the point of my request)...
Well Morrissey certainly can be a spiteful bitch. It's no wonder that he and Bowie fell out on tour together, in 1995.
But then, Bowie's the kind of person who treads a fine line between near brilliance, and utter banality.
I think they both have an ongoing Zoolander/Hansel battle over who's hair looks better.
On an interview that was released in audio form on a Pere Ubu CD single in the early 90s, Dave Thomas and Frank Black were talking about artists they like, and Frank Black said he was into Morrissey, that Morrissey had his own style that he liked. Dave Thomas agreed that he was good. Hmm...I wonder if I still have that laying around.......
My screenname comes from a Morrissey song, btw.....
