I am only beginning the appreciation, cause I ain't got the power anymore.

Right now I'm really enjoying Diamond Dogs with an emphasis on Hunky Dory!!!

"Mickey Mouse has grown up a cow" - Life On Mars (I just heard that lyric and realized it was used in the Bush song 'Everything Zen', hah!)

As a student of Ziggy and the Man Who Sold the World, I must admit to holding highest his Hunky Dory, with honorable mention of Station to Station. Pardon the alliteration, and thanks for the nudge toward a neglected portion of a hemorrhaging cd collection.

Whoa, wild timing! Earlier today my friend put on "Andy Warhol" and hit the repeat button and after about a half hour I did the same with "Life on Mars."

In fifth grade, I had a poster of Aladdin Sane over my bed. I still think it's beautiful. Bowie's amazing.

All this said, does anybody really like or listen to side 2 of the otherwise incredible Low?

I can't begin to pick a favourite! 'Diamond Dogs' is fabulous, especially the 'Sweet Thing/Candidate' medley. Haha.

I love the way that the much underrated 'Lodger' album goes side by side with Talking Heads' 'Fear of Music'.

There is a fault of unreleased and little heard material from all stages of David's career, that will probably only see commercial release when he dies. Such a shame. His record company is more content with putting out endless cash in reissues and the like, than the Anthology style box set that the material deserves, it seems.

Concerning the words of the Sweet thing suite... I just very recently understood what they were about.
More than ever this is a song I would love to sing and perform...
And a song HE should perform today, along with Lady Grinning Soul and why not... Saviour Machine!

Low is such a trip. This man always knew how to be on top of pyramids, here beyond Kraftwerk and Eno.

I can't help feeling incomplete when I think of this music and the time I was deeply into... not so long ago...

There's way too many to pick a fave.
Cripes I even love the 80's Let's Dance. Modern Love and Blue Jean are great.
But of course Hunky Dory rawks! Perhaps oh you pretty things.

The very first album is unique and is my favorite. His songwriting at that time was different full of influences but really weird in the end...

I love that bit too. And, the demo of the Candidate included on the CD is so different and great.

I have Ziggy, Diamond Dogs, Station to Station, and Space Oddity. What should I get next?

The "Baal Ep" is splendid and the best thing he did in the 80's. If you want to know if a singer has it or not, make him sing some Brecht's songs!!

Honestly, get them all, at least the 70's ones and don't forget "the idiot" & "Lust for life", and "Transformer".

That and Hunky are the only Bowie albums I have. I love It's No Game (Part 1), Up The Hill Backwards and, of course, Ashes To Ashes!

BTW, I have to admit I like some of the songs on Let's Dance!

Oh yes - It's No Game Part 1 is phenomenal.

And there's no shame in liking some of the songs from Let's Dance but keep it to yourself if you find you've got 'Dancing With The Big Boys' going through your head ;)

Let's dance is not bad at all after all (oh, by jingo!). Mixes are a bit too long on the album, let's dance is kinda dence, but some good moments to dance along, Ricochet is fun, Criminal World rocks and cat People is good (though I prefer the Soundtrack Version). Shake It is kind of song I always play for dancing party! (watch my carpet, please!)

Tonight is not that bad either. Of course it bears no comparision with with his big Existencialist Albums like Hunky or the Man who $old... But it is acceptable.
However Never let me down is a real turd...

Well, i think the 'Never Let Me Down', 'Black Tie White Noise' and 'Reality' are all of questionable quality...

Black tie is not that bad... Really good moments: Jump (they say), Pallas Athena, Miracle Goodnight and the Morrissey cover... Same for Reality which is weaker in terms of production than Heathen... You skip some tracks, true but nothing compared to NeverLMD which sounds really horrible, there is not a single decent song apart from the concept of "Glass Spider"...

Reality sucks wolsky! I can live with 'Fall Dog Bombs The Moon' (and 'New Killer Star' starts off well but the chorus ruins it) but the rest is 80s pap. It reminds me very much of 'Never Let Me Down'

Black Tie White Noise: Yep, 'Jump They Say' is a good track...but i can't find any others. Ok maybe (but not definitely) the Walker cover.

It's true that there is a strong sent of 80's stuff... True for New killer star, awfull chorus... And the song reality is a big hurt indeed. But the loneliest guy, Bring me the disco king and Days are good for me.
Anyway, I'm curious to hear what will come next (it is supposed to be "more experimental")... Hope Bowie won't miss around with those new bands he says he's fond of...

Yeah, 'Reality' sounded very rushed. Kinda telling that he didn't care much for it when very few of the songs were regulars on the world tour.

He's scheduled to play a duet with the Arcade Fire at the 'Fashion Rocks' event this week.
