I've never tried marmite, but I don't think I'd like it.
My favorite food is probably either pizza or spaghetti with meat sauce. I like Americanized Italian food, basically. I don't know about my least favorite food overall, but I will say that I'm the only person I know who really doesn't like mashed potatoes. Really, I'm not a fan of potatoes in general, although I'll eat chips/crisps and fries/chips.
I don't drink that much alcohol, but I once had a mango mojito that was really good. I also like Fuzzy Navels.
I was all out of luck, like a duck that died. I was all out of juice, like a moose denied. |

I like all food, I'm going through a West Indian phase at the moment - basically everything with rice and peas, it's fantastic. I'm not sure I have a favourite, although my mum's roast lamb is pretty special. I love to cook and I'm not too bad at it, but that lamb is something else. Ooh, apple crumble for pudding. I don't drink alcohol these days, but I can appreciate the merits of a fine beer (Corona) or wine, or the occasional jack&coke, G&T, or whatever. No neat spirits though, I can't be dealing with the firewater, for instance. And of course I like Marmite, what right-thinking person doesn't?
How's that for a slice of fried gold? |

sorry, but british marmite is really horrible. like putting runny molasses on your bread. yuck! New Zealand marmite, however, it immessurably better. i really struggled with the british variety while living in london. but you can buy vegemite there, so i recommend you all giving that a shot.
the aussie's make a similar product, Vegemite, which while not quite as good as NZ marmite, is much better than UK marmite, and a fine nasty drop too.

Vegemite is far superior to marmite.
Cheese I will try to remember to send you that lamb okra stew recipe - think you'll love it. Good soul food.

but nicole, have you had kiwi marmite? cause it's totally different - if it didn't have the same name, you'd never realise it's "supposed" to be the same stuff....

No - is it really that different?
My brother is convinced that SA bovril is totally different to english bovril. I think it's all just to do with the heat.

well english marmite is runny and just yucky and tatses like meat, whereas nz marmite is much more like vegemite in it's texture and taste, but (in my opinion) better than vegemite. u can buy it at the kiwi/aussie shops in london i believe - do they have those in leeds too?
when i send you those other isis shows (see, i remember) i'll add some marmite. oh, there's an isis dvd up on dimeadozen.org. actually there's two! http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=57867 http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=57568

i have tesco yeast extract, i say fuck the snobbery of aussies and kiwis.
p.s. i have tried both marmite and vegemite and to be honest, couldn't give a shit if they tasted slightly different. give me something cheap.

WHEEHEEE!
No Aussie/Kiwi or Saffa shops in leeds but have managed to find a tiny shop that stocks a couple of Saffa treats and essentials like Ouma rusks.
I will hunt some down next time I'm near one to do a taste comparison (though there's no way english marmite is coming anywhere near this mouth it's vile stuff) so it'll have to be an aussie vegemite vs kiwi marmite test.
(Oh and I've got a lovely little selection being compiled for your listening pleasure)

I'd say carbohydrates probably taste better. I love bread, pasta, crackers, and oatmeal. Meat is pretty tasty, but if I were forced into the choice, I'd rather become a vegetarian than go on the Atkins Diet.

Never had vegemite or marmite. I love all but boring foods, or foods that should be hot but are served lazily cold because someone didn't time it correctly. Speaking of which, I hate ordering pancakes and having the maple syrup served room temperature. Syrup should be heated until it is incredibly hot. It makes all the difference.
