"marmots on a dinghy" just doesn't stir the imagination does it? I doubt sam jackson would sign up for that. |

I saw it tonight. I absolutely adore this movie. This movie is 100% fun. Most enjoyable experience I've had in a theater in a long time, if not ever. The kids were going nuts. It's somewhere in between bad enough to be good but good enough to be great. I thought the ending was slightly anti-clamatic, but it was fun as shit. I think I might see it again tomorrow.

The early word seems to be that it lives up to the hype. I may go and see it, if I'm in the mood.
What about a sequel....how about Snakes On A Hydraulic Lift?! Although that might be pretty uneventful...

Might go see it tonight. And Sam Jackson has mentioned the possibility of a sequel. So... Bats In A Suitcase?

Aw no! I didn't get to see it last night. Now you've ruined the whole plot for me Carl! I thought that the "snakes" were a metaphor for governmental figures and that the "plane" represented life. And “Sam Jackson” represented the everyman who wants to shoot guns on a “plane” . But it’s nothing like that!

Offtopic: Wrenn, very nice work on the sig. I'm not sure why, but I love it.

Thanks. It's not exactly "in your face" or anything, it's like a secret sig. I'll probably add more to it at some stage.

That simple horizontal rule represents the straight line one must walk through life.

And you must walk the line before you get the point. |

Hmm, yes. The surprise behind that line is a possible epileptic fit. How cruel life is.

Rattlers freed in "Snakes on a Plane" theater prank
Tue Aug 22, 2006 6:36pm ET
PHOENIX (Reuters) - Life imitating art is all very well. Unless, that is, it's a movie about deadly snakes on the rampage.
Movie chain AMC Entertainment Inc. said pranksters at one of its Phoenix theaters released two live diamondback rattlesnakes during a showing of the film "Snakes on a Plane" last Friday. No one was injured.
AMC spokeswoman Melanie Bell said, "One was found in the parking lot during the show, and the other in the movie theater. They were both removed, and no one was harmed."
The snakes were later released in the desert.
Bell had no further details.
The movie stars Samuel L. Jackson, and spins a yarn about a crate-load of escaped snakes that run amok on an airline flight, attacking passengers and crew.
"There were kids at the show, and it was actually very reckless," Russ Johnson, the president of the Phoenix Herpetological Society told Reuters.
"The snakes' bite carries a powerful venom that could have seriously injured someone," he added.

1) "herpetological" sounds like an STD society
2) Saw the movie last night and enjoyed myself more than I was expecting. Anyone else seen it yet?

There's an old joke about two men camping where one guy gets bit on the wiener by a snake and the other guy is a bit reluctant to remove the venom. Did that scenario play in the new movie? Or, are we going to have to wait until "Snakes on Brokeback Mountain" comes out? |

I have to say I was startled to read that Carl. You started this topic months ago, have posted in it a bunch of times, yet you never had serious intentions on even watching it?
This has to be the longest topic about a movie on this forum which only one person has seen. Namely, me. I was really disappointed in the box office results, 15 million when the over under was 26. What a shame. I may have to watch it a million times in the theater by myself just to make up for it.

I think they had unrealistic expectations. They made the movie as a matinee thriller and so they'll be most likely to get that sort of crowd, or the weekday evenings. I'm sure that the movie will do just fine. Did they think an R-rated movie was going to be number one of all time? It was always destined to be, at best, a cult movie. That they came in first place on opening weekend is pretty good in my mind.

I can't tell you... well, I can, but then Transmarine will come in here and freak out about spoilers. :P

I quite enjoyed it. Pretty damn graphic in parts. Strangely underwhelmed at the end, though. Would like to have seen then pursue, and totally own that Chinese gangster. |

True, I wasn't even thinking along those lines. Going surfing was the more cheesy way to end it, you 'gotta admit. :)

Haha, on second thoughts, it's a pretty obvious way to lead to a sequel. |

I missed another chance to see SoaP tonight. I was 15 mins late for it, and even though i'm sure i wouldn't have missed any major parts of the plot, i still didn't go and see it. I'm not a johnny-come-lately when it comes to films
I did, however, go and see Severance. (P.S. Everyone needs to go see Severance)
