I don't know if many of you are familiar with last.fm (or if there is a group already) but I took the liberty of opening one for members of frankblack.net
last.fh is a site where you download a plugin into your media player and create and account with them and they chart all your music for you.
If anyone is interested in joining it go to http://www.last.fm/ and register, download the plugin then search for the group "frankblack.net" and it's open to everyone so you should be straight in. If we get 15 members, it's holds a chart every week.
If there are any problems or anything just tell me know here and close it or whatever.

Just to note, last.fm used to be called Audioscrobbler, but now it seems last.fm is the main site, and is just powered by Audioscrobbler. I believe Audioscrobbler was mentioned at least twice over the last couple of years. By PixieSteve once I think...?
I'll certainly join the FB.net group- once I figure out the new last.fm website... hm!

yeah I know it used to be called audioscrobbler (i still call it that) but I thoguht it would just be easier to just keep refering to it as last.fm

I'd join up if they had plug-in's for OS 9, why does everything have to be OS X, very annoying 'cause I'd like to join up.

two questions
1) will this work for a Mac user?
2) what is the advantage of having one's music charted? i guess i'm brave enough to admit that i don't get what this thing does.

Kathryn, it doesn't just chart your music, it works as an internet radio. For instance if you wanted to listen to the music that the frank black forum group listens to, you could open up that radio station. If, god help you, you wanted to listen to the stuff I listen to (my profile), you could do that too. I could listen to yours as well. It also gives you neighbours based on your listening habits, and from there it recommends new music you might like.

Sounds like a cool site. Have any of you guys tried pandora.com yet? I have to say I could waste an entire weekend on that site. Very cool. Basically you can create radio stations based on your taste in music (by artist or song) and it will play tracks with similar themes, harmonies, instrumentation, etc interspersed with your favourite tracks. If you haven't checked it out I definitely recommend it. Great way to get into new bands...

We have too a Frank Black Forum Radio! Playing songs based upon our common tastes. Currently, it's playing some white stripes, weezer, FB&C live, Rolling stones, Pixies, Richard Cheese (who's that? Is it Simon?), Ohio Players, Sparklehorse, The Bees (live),... Excellent! |

Yeah, the group radio seems pretty decent. I'm already enjoying some new stuff (well, new to me anyway). How exactly does it work? Does it just play random stuff from group members profiles?

After glancing at this topic a number of times, I finally went and checked out the site last night. I must say I'm very impressed, and have joined the group as well as telling anyone who will listen to me about the site.

Maybe the surprise is in which FB tracks are the most played. Maybe.

I think this underlines our faith and confidence in him, especially during such a troubled period of his life. Congratulations PixieSteve!
