Sorry mosleyk but I think I got you beat.

I'm so so tired stimpy...

My kids came back from a trip to Peachland with gramma a week ago.
Annabelle brought back a little something extra...

I just about fucking puked!
They are so icky yucky gross I can't even explain.
Ahhh kids.

About 3 days back and she started to scratch her head.
And then came the call from the cousins in Peachland.
"Noah has lice, check your kids."
I checked D and nothing. I checked Annabelle and major infestation.
I prolly picked about 2 dozen off her head and brushed out bagazillion nits.
It involves so much work.
Last week, I washed, shampooed, bagged, laundered, vacuumed, steamcleaned, boiled, bleached, brushed etc. everything in my house more than once. This on broken sleep because of the newborn.
I'm sooooo fucking tired.

And then I thought, shit I slept in Bella's room with baby Jonas one night as she slept with gramma so hubby could have solid sleep for work.
I brushed my hair with the special brush and EWWWWWWW!
I brushed out 3 lice. Off my own head!
Now brushing them off your kid is one thing but off yourself is freaking traumatizing!
I just kept saying Im freaking out Mike, I'm fucking freaking out, I'm freaking out! Over and over.

And then Gramma, as she slept with Bella.
Now she's super oldschool and insisted she couldn't possibly have lice. I made her check with the brush and sure enough...
Then she went from lice come from filth to wow I guess anyone can get it.

We found them on Mike's bday and I'm sure it'll be one he'll never forget. We stayed up til 2 shampooing everyone and brushing and bagging etc.

I pray this never happens again. I might have to go to therapy.

Anyone ever had this experience.
Please share so I don't feel so mortified.

EDIT:
Jonas has a schwack of hair, but didn't get them, thank god.

my friend used to be the lice coordinator for the county school board (heh) and she told me that lice are turning into superbugs, the regular stuff just won't put a dent in them anymore because people have been using it half-assed for years. immortal lice. scary shit.

and speaking of which, freshman year of college the entire first three floors of my dorm came down with scabies. you want to talk about nasty shit..... i lived on the 11th floor hid for weeks until the threat was gone. you wake up in those bad acid trip moments, scratching frantically thinking bugs were on you.

<shudder>

Carolyn, that sounds HORRIBLE. what a shitty ordeal. Sorry you had to deal with that.

Speaking of scabies...*shudder*

Back in sophomore year of college, I shared my bed with this girl i knew. Turned out she had scabies...spent a night in my bedsheets...so I got them...had to rub my whole body down with this stinky, nasty cream two or three times over...
To make things worse, I didn't even get any action from her! At least that could have justified my plight!!!

SHUT UP!

Because it does seem like I've rid them but brushing our hair with the special comb a million times rather than the shampoo actually working.

are you nursing, c? i think that rid/nix stuff is a no-no if you're breastfeeding. i'd go with the combing plus smothering (i mean totally drowning) your head with olive oil. put a shower cap on so the little bastards can't escape.

Carolynanna......you are right. Your experience is 10 times worse than food-poisoning. I was lucky never to get lice as a kid, but I had friends who did....and man.....the stories they told of the horror of having them, and all the work to get rid of them. It sounded just awful as your story does. And on top of having a new baby!!! It sounds just horrid. I hope those nasty bugs are cleared out soon!

kooties. gross!!

that sucks. never had em.

but i did get the e coli virus a couple of weeks ago. swallowed some lake water after i went in a 200 meter swim competition. it was really wavy and i took in some water. was real sick for 3 days but back to myself now! lost 10 lbs and have kept them off! fuck diets- get e coli!

kooties would be way worse. i'd shave my head if that ever happened to me.

They only like clean hair, I've had them as a kid and as an undergrad I had scabies (my mum freaked, I wasn't that bothered), it's just bugs you know.

Were you ok with the shampoo Carolyn?

Is it not a rites of passage to get head lice at some point in your life? All my brothers and sisters, plus myself, got it (from school), my nieces got it (from playschool). I always thought it was one of those things you had to go through because you don't really have control over it , all it takes is one person with an infestatsion for those criters to jump from person to person. One reason to be glad your bald! Oh, I had scabies as well, it was not fun as a teenager having your parents rub lotion all over you . We're nice clean people please believe me
