Or, you could buy it. Yeah, yeah, yeah...I know I'm living in a few glass houses myself, but, come on, not here, not now...

Alright, fair enough, how 'bout you send me $37.99 (I've looked, "Atlantis" ain't available at any of the $.99 stores) cash, check, or money order and I'll buy it for you at amazon.com or any other retail outlet of your choice and send it to you, or if you don't feel good about that, ask me or any of your other brothers and sisters "in all things Frank" here at "frankblack.net" to buy it for your early birthday present! KNOW WHAT I'M SAYIN? BABY NEEDS A NEW PAIR OF SHOES!

I bought Cult of Ray, then I bought it again with the bonus disc. I bought the Self Titled, then I bought it again with the bonus disc. I bought Pistolero, then again I bought the japanese version with the bonus track. I bought Dog in the Sand, then again I bought the japanese version with the bonus track, and then I bought the extended version with the 4 acoustic songs. Now I've learned the lesson and I finally learned that japanese cd's got bonus stuff . So this time I've waited and didn't buy Honeycomb at first, but waited for my japanese import to come. So I paid a lot of bucks but not for one song only! |

I thought FB&C import had Le Cigar Volante on it...or was that Dog In The Sand? I do remember an import of FB&C which came out months and months ahead of U.S. release (I still kick myself for not buying it back in '98) on the shelves of a couple indie stores near me...it did have a bonus track (not a second disc) on it, but I can't remember for the life of me what it was...maybe Humboldt County Massacre?

Le cigare volante was the bonus track for the japanese edition of Dog in the Sand. And the japanese editon of Pistolero contained Valley of our Hope as a bonus track. Then we have Dog in the Sand with the 4 acoustic songs and I think that's it as far as releases with bonus tracks are concerned ( and now we have Honeycomb of course ). And, as already said, we have some releases with bonus discs. |

yeah, the tab for english is at the bottom of the page. they only have normal copies of dog in the sand and pistolero. does anyone know of a good ebay seller located in japan who could source this stuff? it probably the easiest way. |

I have the Japanese PISTOLERO...it is definately worth the $40 bucks (if it's still available). The track line up is better than the U.S./Europe version in my opinion. It starts with I WANT ROCK AND ROLL, then goes into BAD HARMONY, followed by WESTERN STAR before I SWITCHED YOU. The album ends with the bonus track VALLEY OF OUR HOPE, which is overlong, but nevertheless a cool Frank song. Also, there are some typos on the case which are interesting. 85 WEEKS is actually spelled out EIGHTY FIVE WEEKS, and SO. BAY is misprinted as SO, BAY. Theres also a cool little sticker included of a scale with two feet on it, and above printed FB&C. Im a little confused by this, other than if they are referring to Frank's weight...I can't be sure...but it is a cool little import. Also, my Japanese version of CULT OF RAY has a spot-on perfect extra track live version of MEN IN BLACK which sounds EXACTLY like the studio cut...it's amazing!

me not knowing much of recordings... why is the japaneese version different and why is it usually "better" in terms of a bonus track and other things??? And why does it cost so much more?? Is it an exchange rate thing??? thank u!! |

They're not so much better as they are interesting because sometimes the track listings vary...and the addition of bonus tracks is exciting. The interesting thing is that a lot of 'imports' are produced by a foreign market subsidiary of a major label and not targeted for their own, but rather they are redirected to the origin country. For instance, my 'import' COR was pressed under a label called 'DRAGNET' in Japan under American Recordings. The packaging is similar, you get a cool japanese lyric booklet, and a bonus track. But American Recordings hired 'DRAGNET' to create this for the American or European market, label it an 'import', and price it outrageously for collectors and hard-core fans. The Japanese never see this version on their shelves! In fact, they see what we see here in the States or Europe. It's all for money. But they are rare, and it's fun to collect.

I have too much respect for Frank to think that he would try and rip off his fans like that. Sounds like a record label ploy.

Received Japanese Honeycomb today. Only got the chance to play Atlantis once [my thinking is it's quite good] although it sounded like 3 or 4 people/cats singing the chorus together & FB's voice to be fairly indistinct in the mix.
