hey, oldwise one- i'n all my excitement of hitting the 500 mark i forgot to ask about the recent gigs? did you get a chance to see the shack shakers (should i be looking into their music? never had the chance of hearing any of their material) and the reverend? if so how was it? ...these weekends go by way to fast.

And, of course, Saturday night belongs to The Man!

I'm still trying to see if there's any way I can get to Nashville that weekend. I like your schedule above. I think once you pick a venue for the night you pretty much have to stay there all night or risk not getting in somewhere else.
My biggest fear is Frank Black cancelling this event. I'd hate to plop down several hundred in airfare+hotel and this gig fall through. I don't like the fact that the main page says "confirmation to come."
But then again, maybe it doesn't matter. There will still be lots of good music.

Yeah, I know what you mean scruvs, it is a lot of money if The Man cancels. Over in the "Honeycomb" Cats thread I've followed up on of Jon Tiven's posts yesterday and requested more information on the Honeycomb showcase scheduled for Sept 10 at the Cannery, but he hasn't responded.
If things don't work out for you on the weekend of Sept. 10th, there is always the possibility of the 'Comb Cats setting up a few residencies, Chicago, New York, and London, for 4-5 night shows. http://forum.frankblack.net/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=13999
However, I hope you can work things out for the Nashville Honeycomb showcase. Maybe Jon will respond with some information from The Man in the next few days.
Email me and we can try to figure some of this out.

Hey, Hey, Hey, I just checked the website for the venue for The Man's Honeycomb showcase show,
http://www.mercylounge.com/live_music ,
and they have revealed that DAN PENN will be one of the special guest that will be playing the Cannery Ballroom the same night Frank is playing. Dan Penn plays at 8:30 p.m and Frank plays at 12:30 a.m. So, I'm guessing after Dan plays his show, he'll stick around and join Frank at 12:30 a.m. as one of the 'Comb Cats.

Yeah, as One Who Hath Swum said, it is hot and muggy, however, I prefer to describe it as Sunny and Sweaty, being a lover of both the Sun and the Sweat.
And, HeywoodJablome, I understand having to consider the bank account. I don't know where you'd be traveling from, but I would guess that the cost of travel would be the biggest expense. Once you get here, Nashville is not an especially expensive city to have fun in. And the price of the 3-day wristband pass, $25, for 3 nights of music at 4 music venues is an incredible bargain.

Sunny and Sweaty sounds a lot more pleasing! I wonder if the Realtors out there use that term. |

Nashville! Can't see a better reason to visit the land of the world protector. Heard a lot about Nashville and the superior class of musicians in and amongst. Finally a place where Frank will blend in. Hope like hell to be there.

Fuckin Aye, Our Enlightened Despot is scheduled to enlighten Saturday morning (10th September) at the AMA Conference from 10:15 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.! This being prior to his show which is scheduled for later (12:30 a.m.) Saturday night/Sunday morning.
Check it out, I was planning my schedule of seminars for the conference and came across The Man scheduled as a presenter at the "From Production to Mastering" seminar. This ought to be pretty damn good, huh, getting schooled by The Man.
http://americanamusic.org/php/index_wide.php?content=conference
10:15-11:30 #27: FROM PRODUCTION TO MASTERING - ROOM 209-210 A must-attend forum/discussion with producers and engineers about getting the best recording for your budget and vision.
Presenters: Eric Conn, President, Independent Mastering, Nashville Frank Black, recording artist and producer[emphasis added, huh!] Brent Rowan, session guitarist and producer, Nashville Scott Rouse, producer (Tim O'Brien, Blue Highway), Nashville Steve Tviet, owner, OMNIsound Studios, Nashville

Go ahead and be bad, I'll post a set list ASAP

Hey guys, you bet I'll post all the details, along with some great pictures and what I hope will be some interesting stories.
The AMA Conference is a 3-day happening with seminars during the day and artist showcases at night. And, there are parties scheduled throughout the days and evenings. My primary purpose for going is to help my friend, Heidi, promote her late Husband's music and to help her network with other artists, producers and record label executives.
I'll be sure to report back here and give an interesting narrative of the events of each day and evening.
And, I'll certainly share all my experiences concerning The Man/Professor Black, including a review of his presentation/discussion of "#27: FROM PRODUCTION TO MASTERING - ROOM 209-210 A must-attend forum/discussion with producers and engineers about getting the best recording for your budget and vision."

fbc, I'm going to pretend that your comment about whether I "will be able to remember all the details" was not meant to make fun of my age nor a foreshadowing of any pending Alzheimer's disease or senility.
I'm going to pretend that it was a reference to my consumption of adult beverages and the detrimental effect it may have on my gift of total recall.

Oooooohhhhhhhh, you just wait fbc, your time is coming, maybe sooner than you think.
There will come a time when you'll be wondering why "I took three days to drive down one street" and I hope the generation younger than you will show some compassion and show you the way home.
I'm listening to "My Life is in Storage", huh! Oh wait a minute, another senior moment, wrong thread. Hey Sonny, which way to the "Favorite Frank Song" thread? Can you take me by the hand and lead me there, thanks!

Got my eye on this here thread for updates, Oldman.
For those of you who read and never reply, those who don't know what the f**k we're talking about and the ones who say "Play the monkey song!" before Pong Frank Black performed Honeycomb live last night.
How cool is that? |
