Hehe, it's amusing sharing the same name as a Celtic player! I actually met him once...he, Rab Douglas and Joos Valgaeren were in Bamboo one night (terrible place, got dragged by friends!) and the temptation to "swap" bank cards was hard to resist!! I know a girl who went to school with him...and I found out through her that I can do more keepie uppies than him! Need to get on the phone to Terry Butcher so he can sign the "next Stephen Pearson". Boom boom.
Big Rab was chatting up some girl...but he dropped her(!) Nah im kidding, I thought Rab did quite well for Celtic, just his mistakes are more memorable than his heroics (always the case with every player).
I've met Neil Lennon and John Hartson too! Met Lennon twice, first time was my first shift working for the first time working in a bar about 4 years ago. In comes Neil Lennon and stunning girl ordering a pint of cider and some girly drink. Here was me trying to put a head on a pint of cider!! I met him again last year or 2 years ago in the special re-opening of the Garage nightclub. Suffice to say he didn't recognise me!
I met John Hartson on a work night out in Jinty McGinty's in the west end of Glasgow (thats where I live and have done for the past 5 years...up in Shetland recuperating after an operation just now) and he also was with a stunning girl. I said hello and he was very polite, though I was quite drunk!
Personally, I used to support Aberdeen when I was younger (being the closest team to me and having 2 brothers and a parent supporting them too) but there comes a time when you realise, "I'm not from Aberdeen...I'm not a true fan" kind of thing. And i'll be honest they weren't playing the best football in the mid to late nineties. I used to follow Scottish football relgiously from the late 80's to mid 90's but I just lost track of it. Im keeping a closer eye on it now as I have a bit of time on my hands, good to see the likes of Hibs, Hearts and Aberdeen improving.
I've kept a keen eye on Spanish, Italian and Argentine football. Loved Argentina and Maradona ever since '86 (most Scots will agree! In a joking kind of way!) The team I like to watch most in Spain is Villarreal, I love the way they play. I know Celtic fans might feel aggrieved to have lost to them in the UEFA cup a couple of seasons ago but they're a classy team, finished 3rd in La Liga last year and have one of the best playmakers in the world in Riquelme (the new Zidane!)

And now you have lost your best player. He was a bit of a hothead (and a bighead by all accounts) so maybe you are better off without him. He will struggle to get into Crewe's team anyway. They have signed a few strikers.
Don't believe the type!

Many Celtic fans have an affinity for Yeovil due to them playing in the hoops.
Stevio10 - sheesh, you've met a fair few players. Don't think I've met even one. Saying that, I've not really lived in Glasgow since 1991 and that was while I was at university (no time for drinking;)
I've never really understood why Barcelona let Riquelme go (it was them, yeah?), maybe he wouldn't fit with Ronaldinho. He was shaping up to be a superb player. Is Saviola back at Barca?
bazza - fingers well and truly crossed. I'll be amazed if we keep a clean sheet though.

Saviola is likely to make a loan move to Espanyol. Barcelona have a great team but I would have kept Riquelme and Saviola as back up for Ronaldinho and Eto if I were them. They didn't do too badly last season though. Perhaps with Riquelme and Saviola on the bench though, they would have been able to overcome Chelsea in the end.
As for Yeovil, they were the best team in your division by a mile last season Domestiques, but I would have loftier dreams than that if I were you. Why not wish you had an affinity with Barca?
