Hey two reelers, Doug Sahm originally wrote and performed the song. Check out http://www.allmusic.com for more info about it. That's as far as my knowledge of it goes I'm afraid as I've never been able to get hold of it (not through lack of trying). As far as I can tell it is only available on several Sahm compilations: 'The Best of Doug Sahm & The Sir Douglas Quintet 1968-1975', 'Songs of Sahm', 'Complete Mercury Masters' and the bonus edition of 'Mendocino'.

Hey Manintheshack, don't you mean "Sunday Sunny Mill Valley Groove Day" (the song)?

I believe "Constant Sorrow Man" is traditional (meaning "of obscure origin"). If memory serves me right, it was also featured in the Cohen Bros. movie "O' Brother Where Art Thou?", as performed by the Soggy Bottom Boys.

'Man of Constant Sorrow' is a traditional song, but 'Constant Sorrow Man' was written by our idol and master.

I think he just reworked it - most artists do that with trad. songs anyway, they add lyrics & stuff like that - but it's basically the same song.

That's the spirit, Frogster.

I've seen a frog hypnotizer on TV yesterday, think I might sign up for a crash course. "You are sleeping... You are asleep... All you can hear is my voice... Now, STOP CONTRADICTING ME!"

;-)

I always wondered about that song.

Dr. Jedi: '1... 2... 3... OK, you're sleeping now... All you can hear is my voice, OK?...'
Mr. Frog: 'All I can hear is your voice.'
Dr. Jedi: 'OK, now repeat after me: Pistolero is a good album...'
Mr. Frog: 'Pistolero... is... a... what???'
Dr. Jedi: 'Pistolero is a good album. Pistolero is a good album. Pistolero is a good album...'
Mr. Frog: 'Pistolero... is... a... sorry, I can't...'
Dr. Jedi: 'Shit -- you damn creature crawling! Remember I'm French, I could eat you... Now repeat after me, Pistolero...'
Mr. Frog: 'Uh... Pistolero... is... not... totally... crap...'
