Last month I got see Jonathan Richman at the Hurricane is Kansas City. What a great show! I found him before the doors even opened, and I talked to him a little as he was setting up his equipment. I was very nervous. Later when he came out to play he patted me on the shoulder as he went up the stage. It was awesome! Between sets I got the chance to ask him this:
"Did you know that Frank Black wrote a song about you? Have you heard it?"
Jonathan replied that he knew about the song, but he hadn't heard it. I was kind of disappointed that he hadn't heard the song, but I was really glad I got to ask him about it. Maybe he'll listen to it now.
Regardless, it was an awesome show. Jonathan Richman is a very refreshing, magical musician and seems like a geniunely beatiful person. In fact, after his show was over he sat on the stage and talked to the fans for quite awhile. I left before he did! I got his autograph though.

I had the pleasure of seeing Jonathan perform as well, about a month ago, and it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. It's amazing how, in spite of its childish siplicity, how beautiful and spiritual his music is and the joy and love that radiate from it. I didn't get to talk to him (I left as soon as the show was over), but you can tell, if only by the vibes he gives off, that he's really an incredible, loving person.

Misterwoe, I waited too long to get tickets to the same show. I was real busy and thought "I'll just get tickets at the last minute". That was stupid. The lady that answered the phone said that people had been calling all day for tickets. I'm still kicking myself over that one.

You'll really kick yourself now. The Hurricane had sold out of tickets before the day of the show. However, they hadn't outsold their occupancy. I didn't have a ticket either. Don't feel too bad though. One time when Frank came to Lawrence and I was only 18 and they changed the show to 21 and over at the last minute. That was very disheartening. It's ironic too because I was one of the first people to buy tickets!
And hey, we live in the same area...we should hang out some time!
