I am eagerly looking forward to spending July with Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen.

This year I am pulling for Ivan Basso, Bobby Julich, Carlos Sastre and the rest of Team CSC to dethrone Lance.

Any other cycling fans?

I'm looking forward to it too. Although I admire what Lance Armstrong has done, I hope Jan Ullrich cracks it this year. You've got to love Phil and Paul's way with words - my favourite line from Paul last year when Jan Ullrich was struggling on one of the last climbs in the Alps:

He saying to himself, "Bridge to engine room, we need more power!", but there is no more power!

Roll on next Saturday.

The tour is great. And it really is good tv. The best for me was many years ago when I was in france and got to watch it live during the day as we lazed around the house after partying all night. It was the year where Greg LeMond came back in the final time trial to take the lead on Laurent Fignon. Exciting stuff.

Am I a bad person if I still support Lance? I confess that when I read his book several years ago, it was pretty damn inspiring. Now, I guess, he is just another evil american thanks to bush.

I'm ready, I hope OLN gives us live coverage. This years Giro was only on tape on the weekends which sucked. I think Lance's ride will be almost ceremonial, just soaking it all in one last time. I'll be rooting for the younger guys like Landis and Leipheimer....

Ha! Funny, right now I'm listening to Radioactivity from the great live CD Minimum-Maximum. Actually I'm considering creating a thread dedicated to this record.

OLN has live coverage every day (I think it starts at 5:30am Pacific time). If it's like last year, this is the one to record because it will be Phil and Paul. If you tune in to the edited evening broadcast, you may have to sit through the dreadful Al Trautwig.

I believe at night they show the whole "live" broadcast tape delayed but unediited and they may also show an editted version. But, I don't Al Trautwig is in any of those. CBS (I think it was CBS) use to do a review show on the weekends with Al Trautwig (and John Tesh music) but I don't know if that happens anymore.

I use root hard for Armstrong, but since I have trouble rooting dynasties (i.e. I hate the Yankees, Lakers, and Cowboys) my support for him has waned. But, it being his last time I'll probably find myself rooting for him. Damn I wish I had OLN.

What about the rumors that Lance takes some performace enhancing type drugs? Thoughts on that?

PS The 'livestrong' thing is getting out of hand.

I don't know if it's true but I know I dislike how arrogant he is when denying it.

Totally.

I think there's a thread about that.

Loving Le Tour so far, even though I can only watch the hour highlights show on ITV2 - so many incidents and they're not even into the mountains yet.

What do you think of Bobby Julich's oval chain ring?

Lance is going to win his 7th title, and Tom Boonen will walk away with the green sweater (boy, talking about cycling in English sure sounds awkward). No coverage problems in Belgium, every last minute is broadcasted on national television. Hey, after all we're still the n° 1 cycling country! Although we haven't won it since 1976...

I don't follow the tour very closely anymore, but there was a time when I could give you by heart the top 3 of the last 30 years. Urs Zimmerman anybody? Or whatever the dude was called, I don't remember.

Great to see each year more Americans in the tour. The more countries that participate, the better. I would love to see some African athletes in the Tour, you would imagine they're physicly able to wash out those white boys, just like they do in long distance running.

I'm not sure if Lance is a doper. There's an article, called 'The Science of Lance', and he has both a massive VO2 Max and very high lactate threshold, which means he can work like a monster.

Physiologically, he has a tremendous advantage...and everything i've read indicates that he is *very* serious about training, and works incredibly hard, and is very, very dedicated to what he does.

And lets not forget he's probably the most tested man on earth.

That said, coming out a minute ahead of all but one guy in the ITT is very suspicious....

Julich's chainring is weird...i'm doubtful of the benefits of this. (Unless you put zero effort into maintaining a nice smooth pedal stroke..) If it were really so good, wouldn't Lance, et al, be using them?

Yeah, the Americans are dominating!! The closest thing we have is a guy with the last name of 'Canada'..hehe

Ok, so Lance IS going to win his seventh title in a row. And Basso will finish second.

Rasmussen will arrive in the dotted sweater and it looks as if T-Mobile will finish as best team.

But: will Ullrich be able to beat Rasmussen today against the clock by more than 2:12 and finish third (sure hope so!)?
And who is going to get the green sweater, Hushovd, O´Grady or McEwen (Go Hushovd!)? That is to be seen tomorrow in Paris.

Ah, two more days of Tour de France. And such decisive ones, too.

Edit: Ooops, forgot O´Grady.

Oh my... what a stage.

So Ulle beat Rasmussen and will be third on the podium in Paris in Sunday.
But to see Rassmussen fall two times an change his bike four(!) times in a race against the clock, that was almost too much. I mean, he finished 77th this day and is now 7th overall.

So, lets see who gets the green sweater in Paris.
