Tonight...probably working late.

Saturday visiting my grandmother who is 96 and in super shape. Then to support my brother....my husband are going to this thing called a "Binder Bee" My brother and his wife are into these old International trucks and every year his car club sponsors this roundup of sort. It is actually kinda cool seeing all the cars and how everybody has fixed theirs up.

Sunday...probably working on landscaping and also some projects in the barn. We are starting our barnyard family with a couple of miniture donkeys in about 4-5 months.

I'm going to tackle some auto issues. Have valves adjusted on one of them so I can get it smogged and tagged, then wash it along with my other car. The poor things are dirty. Tonight I plan on watching a movie called The Taking of Pelham One Two Three and the original Dirty Harry. Also I need a tan. I hope to go out to a club or something tomorrow night, but I'll just see where the day takes me. And I'm going to rest rest rest.

Gardening mostly I think. The back garden needs cut, which is ok, but the front garden needs a whole lot of work. Cutting, weeding, forking, pruning, feeding etc. The weather looks like it's going to be good, so better do it while it lasts.

The kids like digging and moving stones and stuff, so it'll keep them occupied.

Oh, and hopefully a couple of good runs. I've had a side strain this week, so running has been a bit curtailed:(

I planned to watch some tv and drink some Cold Ones (tm) with a buddy at his place tonight but he's not feeling so good. So, I'm drinking beer on my own on the internet. It can only end in offending many, many people.

But I am off on a quick tour with my math-spaz-kazoo-rock band on Sunday!

Hope the cane steers away from you. Strawberry pop tarts are good cane bunker food. Lots of batteries so you can listen to Frank and DK's.

Did you exchange?

US boy buys new Harry Potter book

A nine-year-old boy has returned the latest Harry Potter book to a shop which accidentally sold it to him.

Sylum Mastropaolo, from New York state, bought Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - due for worldwide release on Saturday morning - on Monday.

But after reading a few pages, his parents returned the book to US publishers Scholastic.

Scholastic said the family would be rewarded with Harry Potter goodies.

"We're going to do the right thing," said Sylum's stepfather, Mike Muldoon.

"We don't want to ruin it for other kids and take away from the experience of everyone reading it together."

The shop which sold the book said it had been put on display by mistake and that all copies had been removed within an hour.

"As far as I know, he is the only one (in the United States) who has the book," said a spokesman for scholastic.

Meanwhile a letter written by the Pope Benedict XVI when he was a cardinal has revealed his opposition to the Harry Potter books, which he said "deeply distort Christianity".

The letter was written by the then cardinal in response to questions from author Gabriele Kuby, who was writing a book called Harry Potter - Good or Evil?

Book queues

Pope Benedict wrote: "It is good, that you enlighten people about Harry Potter, because those are subtle seductions, which act unnoticed and by this deeply distort Christianity in the soul, before it can grow properly."

In a second letter he gave Kuby permission to make his judgement on the subject public.

The letters have been translated and printed on Lifesite.net, which calls itself a Judeo-Christian and anti-abortion news and information website.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, the sixth book in the wizarding saga, goes on sale worldwide at 0001 BST on Saturday.

UK book chain Waterstone's says it is expecting about 300,000 to queue at its stores for the late night opening on Friday.

Might watch a bit of television or something.

Swim.
Pretend I don't know about the "surprise" birthday party on Sunday.
Listen to the gazillion CDs I just received.
Try to weasel out of that horse event at the stables on Saturday.
Count the days until the next Pixies show.

I'll have to get up early tomorrow to be on the phone to various ticket agents for Pixies tickets.
Then I'm heading West to play an ice-hockey variant involving brooms, then going for 'contemporary Indian cuisine' in the evening.
