I just deleted my thread. I'll re post the BBC news site stuff.
I really really hope our London forum friends are ok too.
Several injured in London blasts Passengers were evacuated from King's Cross station Several people have been injured after explosions on the Underground network and a double-decker bus in London. A police spokesman said there were "quite a large number of casualties" at Aldgate Tube Station.
And Scotland Yard confirmed one of several reports of explosions on buses in the city - in Tavistock Place - but said the cause was not yet known.
One caller to BBC Five said his friend had seen "the bus ripped open like a can of sardines and bodies everywhere."
PA also quoted union officials as saying sources had told them there had been at least one explosive device on the Underground.
British Transport Police Surges took place at Aldgate, Edgware Road, King's Cross, Old Street and Russell Square stations.
Scotland Yard confirmed they were assisting with a "major incident" and said there were casualties.
A spokesman said officers were called out to Aldgate station at 8.50am to assist City of London and British Transport Police.
"All of the emergency services are on scene. There have been some casualties. This has been declared as a major incident," said the spokesman. "It's too early to state what has happened at this stage," he said.
The National Grid, which supplies power to the Underground, said there had been no problems with its system which could have contributed to the incidents.
'Screaming and crying'
Jacqui Head, from BBC News, who had just left King's Cross station on a Piccadilly Line train as an explosion happened, said: "Everything was normal. Suddenly there was a massive bang, the train jolted.
"There was immediately smoke everywhere and it was hot and everybody panicked. People started screaming and crying."
The train was kept in the tunnel for 20 minutes and no announcement was made to explain the delay to passengers, she added.
London Fire Brigade said four crews were at Liverpool Street and more were on their way.
Another passenger, who had left the Tube at Fenchurch Street Station, and walked to Aldgate East, told BBC Five Live that he saw injured people.
"As I walked through the bus station I could see people lying on the ground, black, as if they'd been covered in smoke. There were about three or four people on the floor being treated."
Eyewitness Paul Woloszyn from BBC News, who was at Blackhorse Road station on the Victoria Line, said: "We were told there was a bomb at Liverpool Street station.
"I was on the Tube, and they stopped the train and told everyone to get off and evacuate the station."
He said staff had said the entire Tube network had been affected, and leaflets had been handed out with details of alternative bus routes.
Another eyewitness, Dorothy Molloy, had been on a Tube train at King's Cross and said "staff just chucked everyone out of the station".
She said staff there had not given any details, but she said two passengers she had spoken to had said they had received messages saying there had been bombs.
"People didn't really know what was going on, they were just huffing and puffing and saying how annoying it was," she said.
"People don't seem to be panicked, but there's so many police and ambulances coming into the areas. People are just concerned, and some are just annoyed at the delay."

"The health services are in support to deal with the terrible injuries that there have been," Clarke told reporters outside Downing Street.
Number 10 said it was "still unsure" whether the explosions were a terrorist attack and although casualties were reported, no further details were yet available.
Seriously, Simon, let us know you're ok please? I am a girl, we stress a lot. |

ok BBC update:
Multiple blasts paralyse London Several people have been injured after explosions on the Underground network and a double-decker bus in London. A police spokesman said there were "quite a large number of casualties" at Aldgate Tube Station.
And Scotland Yard confirmed one of several reports of explosions on buses in the city - in Tavistock Place - but said the cause was not yet known

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Ian Blair said there had been at least six explosions, but said the picture was still "very confused".
Scotland Yard said explosions have been reported at Edgware Road, King's Cross, Liverpool Street, Russell Square, Aldgate East and Moorgate.
Number 10 said it was "still unsure" whether the explosions were a terrorist attack and although casualties were reported, no further details were yet available.
Prime Minister Tony Blair is to make a live televised statement on the explosions in London at 1200 BST, Downing Street added.
All London Underground services have been suspended indefinitely and bus services in central London (Zone One) have been halted.
A spokesman for Vodafone said emergency services were being given priority access to the mobile phone network which was causing problems for other users.
My friend is stuck in the middle of it, I'm so glad he's ok. |

The BBC's Frank Gardner said Arab sources said the blasts were probably the work of al-Qaeda but police have not confirmed a terrorist link
The radio has said that the Metropolitan Police Commissioner has said it has all the hallmarks of a terrorist attack.

I left at the usual time for work, arrived two hours late, edwina. I live and work outside of town, North London, so I think I may have missed the really scary stuff. I was 30m apparently from my stop when the power failed, and eventually they had to bring a train up from the previous station and load everyone on that. I've never seen it so crammed, it was very odd - one of the staff muttered about bombs and the rumour mill was off. Hurray for the British sense of humour though!

The bus looks a total mess. Hopefully there weren't too many people on the top. Tony Blair is also leaving G8 to travel down to London

A police spokeswoman confirmed there had been two deaths at Aldgate and UK home secretary Charles Clarke said the explosions caused "terrible injuries".
London's police chief said traces of explosive had been found at one site.

Two people have been killed and scores have been injured after at least seven blasts on the Underground network and a double-decker bus in London. UK Prime Minister Tony Blair said it was "reasonably clear" there had been a series of terrorist attacks.
He said it was "particularly barbaric" that the attack was timed to coincide with the G8 summit which he would be leaving to return to London.
The BBC's Frank Gardener said Arab sources believed al-Qaeda was to blame.
London's police chief Sir Ian Blair said traces of explosive had been found at one site.
He urged people to stay where they were and not to call emergency services unless it was a life-threatening situation.
Sir Ian said there had been "many casualties" but it was too early to put a figure to those killed or injured.
He reassured the public that an emergency plan was in place and the situation was "steadily coming under control".
Home Secretary Charles Clarke told reporters outside Downing Street: "The health services are in support to deal with the terrible injuries that there have been."
Scotland Yard said explosions have been reported at Edgware Road, King's Cross, Liverpool Street, Russell Square, Aldgate East and Moorgate.
All London Underground services have been suspended indefinitely and bus services in central London (Zone One) have been halted.
A spokesman for Vodafone said emergency services were being given priority access to the mobile phone network which was causing problems for other users.
One caller to BBC Five said his friend had seen "the bus ripped open like a can of sardines and bodies everywhere".
Loyita Worley, who works for a City law firm, said she was on the underground train when an explosion took place in the next carriage, while it was in a tunnel.
The 49-year-old said: "All the lights went out and the train came to an immediate halt. There was smoke everywhere and everyone was coughing and choking, but remained calm. We couldn't open the doors."
Once the doors were opened they were taken along to Liverpool Street station.
She said the carriage where an explosion happened was "black on the inside" and she saw people who appeared to have their clothes blown off.
She saw bodies lying inside the carriage.
British Transport Police said incidents took place at Aldgate, Edgware Road, King's Cross, Old Street and Russell Square stations.
Hospitals have said they are no longer accepting non-emergency cases, BBC Five Live reported.
The National Grid, which supplies power to the Underground, said there had been no problems with its system which could have contributed to the incidents.

They seem to have ruled that out, probably because they would know through the intelligence networks.

By AMY TEIBEL, Associated Press Writer 1 hour, 12 minutes ago
JERUSALEM - British police told the Israeli Embassy in London minutes before Thursday's explosions that they had received warnings of possible terror attacks in the city, a senior Israeli official said.
Israeli Finance Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had planned to attend an economic conference in a hotel over the subway stop where one of the blasts occurred, and the warning prompted him to stay in his hotel room instead, government officials said.
Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom said he wasn't aware of any Israeli casualties.
Just before the blasts, Scotland Yard called the security officer at the Israeli Embassy to say they had received warnings of possible attacks, the official said. He did not say whether British police made any link to the economic conference.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity because of the nature of his position.
The Israeli Embassy was in a state of emergency after the explosions in London, with no one allowed to enter or leave, said the Israeli ambassador to London, Zvi Hefet.
All phone lines to the embassy were down, said Danny Biran, an Israeli Foreign Ministry official.
The ministry set up a situation room to deal with hundreds of phone calls from concerned relatives. Thousands of Israelis are living in London or visiting the city at this time, Biran said.
Amir Gilad, a Netanyahu aide, told Israel Radio that Netanyahu's entourage was receiving updates all morning from British security officials, and "we have also asked to change our plans."
Netanyahu had been scheduled to stay in London until Sunday, but that could change, Gilad said.

Good to hear people are o.k.
I am surprised its taken so long for a bombing in London, especially after we've been supporting US so closely. I have a friend in London at the moment, will have to try and get in touch with him...

In Islam, the number 7 is significant in that believers perform the symbolic act of circumambulating 7 times around a sacred structure in Mecca.

Let's not start believing all these so called reports of "Al Qaeda" being behind this. Bush and Blair are already using these attacks as reason for the war on terror.

LOL I got your sarcasm but I just think that the numbers thing will make all of us too paranoid concerning another terrorism attack, you know "so..this is october 23rd oh and 2+3=5 and that means that...", you know, that kind of stuff, maybe you weren't sarcastic and I'm already paranoid about that anyways. |
