Oh yeah, has anyone noticed how different Peter Jackson looks now? He lost 70 pounds and had laser eye surgery done. His next film is an adaptation of Alice Sebold's novel The Lovely Bones. Apparently, he'd like to do The Hobbit, but we'll have to wait a few years. There's a lot of legal wrangles going on with it, although I believe there may be some pre-production concept designers working on it!!

Pete Jackson was featured on a tribute to Geo. Lucas I watched...I really wouldn't have known it was him had there not been a captioned name beneath him. he looked 19 kinds of different!
and i heard there is some pre-production going on for the Hobbit...I think he said he'd either start working on it or release it in 2008....I could be way wrong here, though. |

Peter Jackson!
The dude! he looked so much different when he was younger.
Either way, he's been aching to make this film since he started in the film world, it's his all time favourite! |

Kong is King. This flick looks fantstic. Jackson was doing online set diaries every couple of days during the production over at http://www.kongisking.net They were really informative and some were just too funny. Kay, bye.

It looks a lot scarier than the original anyway (or the remake). The tribe on the island looked particularly menacing. They had a trailer before War Of The Worlds and yeah it looks pretty good. It's got dinosaurs and a bloody big monkey in it so it HAS to be good.
Let's hope the sequel is about a fuck off great pengiun.

I know a lot of people are gonna roll their eyes at this news, but the Deluxe Extended Edition is coming out on Nov.14 (in the US, anyway). There's actaully only about 13 minutes of additional footage (only!! I know, it's already 3hrs long), but an additional 230 new FX shots...however, there are 40 minutes of deleted scenes-which I imagine will probably feature loads of abandoned monster sequences!

40 more minutes?? I was already dying sitting there for 3 hours straight. The movie was great, I just can't stand to sit in an uncomfortable chair for that long.

Did anybody ever see that 70s Walter Hill film called The Warriors? it was about a gang stranded on other side of town from their turf trying to cross those of lots of other gangs. The film went like: they´d run for two minutes, encounter a gang, beat tar out of them, then say Okay let´s get moving and run for two minutes, then bump into another gang, beat etc., for 90 minutes. I saw King Kong a few weeks ago and it was like that, bunch of filmmakers run through a procession of ghouls and creepycrawlies with the only change being amplification of the ghoulishness and creepycrawliness as they went on. And it was 3 hours long! they shoulda given it to Walter Hill, least it would´ve had good music.

In two weeks The Warriors is going to be screened outdoors at Coney Island for free, with most of the original cast present. How cool is that? I wish I wasn't in Boston now. I'd love to come out and play-yay.
I really liked Jackson's King Kong, and would gladly sit through forty more minutes. Maybe they'll finally explain how they got Kong from the island to New York, or how it went from broadway evening show time (9:00pm?) to dawn in lie ten minutes.

I guess I´m more open to be cynical cause I watched it on a friends computer. If I went to it in the cinema I´d be more willing to tell myself I enjoyed it after getting all the way to the cinema, waiting for a ticket, queuing for food, sitting through 20 minutes of advertising, you know like those people who go through humiliating hazing rituals and the more humiliating it is the more they have to tell themselves it was worth it. Or praps I´m genuinely bummed Walter Hill didn´t get it and cast Nick Nolte as Kong.

If you have to watch a movie on a big screen with surround sound for it to be enjoyable, it's crap movie basically.
Im right so there. Don't go on about your amazing visual scenes and graphics shite talk. A big ape runs a muck, end of.

i think if you watch a movie on your computer you relinquish your right to review it because you're not really seeing the film.

Yeah, but computers aren't ideal for watching most movies, unless you have a widescreen monitor and a comfortable viewing position.

Maybe we have to see it on a big screen so that we can get the most out of those numerous lengthy shots consisting entirely of a close-up of Naomi Watts' face trying to look as adorable as possible, usually followed by a lengthy shot consisting entirely of a close-up of Adrien Brody's face trying to look as loved-up as possible.
Or what about a shot of Jack Black standing on a gloomy island inhabited by terrifying beasts, confronted by a GREAT BIG GAINT GORIL...No, wait, that’s not what I see at all. What I see is Jack Black standing in front of a green screen, trying as hard as possible to look terrified at absolutely nothing, whilst Peter Jackson encourages, "That's it Jack, see, you can do serious films! Now...just open your jaw a little more whilst maintaining that vacant expression...Hey, when's Tenacious D's new album coming out?"
You also get to see a really big shot of a computer-generated ship sailing away from a harbour which completely takes your attention away from what you're looking at and gets you thinking...hmm...why not use a real Goddamn boat?! What a cinematic experience.
I did see this in the cinema, by the way, and these shots were still as contrived and lame as ever. |

Due to my present condition and predicaments of being a crippled as a result of the fatal accident that I had, I am not able to carry out this contract because I can only walk on a wheel chair. |

well, he said "on the computer" which doesn't necessarily mean on the computer monitor. he could quite easily have hooked up his graphics output to a 52" widescreen HDTV and his audio output to a 5.1 surround sound system. so there.
