Actually, considering the issue: I'm all for making fun of veganism. As with any lifestyle, it's open for mockery. I mean, can you imagine a meatless existence? Spending your life eating dog-biscuit-esque meat substitutes? Not me.

Vegetarian for 4-5 years, I can't remember exactly- the lack of meat protein in my diet has left me light-headed.

I don't appreciate the label "vegan" put on me if I choose that diet.
Also, I'm not a big fan of fake meat. There's something sort of sick and twisted about a burger made out of replica dead animal matter.
They even add "veggie" gristle. It's supposed to mimic the gristle found naturally in ground beef.
How come we say Los Angeleez?

I guess this is pretty much a joke thread now, but yes, I'm more or less vegan (going on two years this August) and rarely eat meat substitutes (tofu, which I also rarely eat, is NOT a meat substitute, by the way). I, too, hate labels; I prefer to just say I choose not use animal products, rather than calling myself a vegan. And I do occasionally eat honey (I don't buy it, but I'm not picky about eating it if it's in my food already), so I'm technically not a vegan anyways.

As I understand it, vegans can kill, eat, harm, mock, taunt, rape (etc.) animals as long as they don't "mean to" do it.

I'm a vegetarian, not vegan. I haven't eaten meat since I was maybe 5 years old... I don't remember doing it. I dont even remember why I stopped.

I was a vegetarian for four years. I lived on Linda MCcarthney and Quorn burgers, Sosmix and broccoli. I could'nt take it anymore and went back to flesh munching. It was the festive season, I think, which is probably when most former vegitarians/vegans lapse! |

Not vegan but I've now been a vegetarian for 21 years. (sounds like a long time when you type it out.) I manage to stagger through each day, listless and with a pallid expression - it's amazing that I'm still alive.

I don't think someone of your age should subject yourself to that sort of abuse, it can't be healthy.

I was a vegan but then I gave in to the temptation of butter. Butter made me stray, I am not ashamed to say.

Cheeseman...primed and waiting...ready with his ageist witticisms.
I'm going to have to challenge you to a 400m race to settle this once and for all.

Are they bred and raised in captivity and confined to airless cramped quarters that are freezing in winter and scortching in summer and fed hormones that will plump them up?
