Wow.... this movie is just incredible. This is not only the best Batman film ever, the best comic film ever (easily beating Spiderman 2, as far as I'm concerned) but it is just a great film period, with not need to qualify or excuse it as a comic based movie. The acting, the character development, the cinematography, the dialogue, everything nearly pitch perfect. This is what good storytelling and thrilling action combined can be. I went in with high expectations, and they were absolutely blown away. See this film now.

I want to see it again right now. Actually, I want them to make the sequel right now. At end of this movie, you will be like, "if the sequel was ready right now, I would watch it".

Batman & Robin is a cinematic abortion.
Batman Begins is dark, serious, and scary. I would not recommend this film for children. It is actually scary in that some scenes are filmed from the villains perspective, and Batman is an unseen hunter, stalking them like prey. And it's kick ass. And the Scarecrow is just flat out great. All of this is on the brink of over the topness, but it's handled so well... Obviously I can't say enough good things about this movie.

Xavier, I can't imagine anyone not enjoying this film, regardless of their feelings for past Batman films. I personally enjoyed Tim Burton's work, but this trumps even his "dark" or "brooding" vision.

I am confident you will at least see it as better than previous Batman offerings. However, it IS still a comic book movie (despite what I said earlier about it not needing that qualifier). It has it's share of cheesy lines (which, in my opinion, almost all come off very well and are humorous), and obligatory car chase, big crash climax. I generally prefer more subtle films, but I also happen to love Batman as a character.

I'm seeing it tomorrow and I have to say *I can not wait* it's going to be ace, pictures and dinner at a lovely Italian laden with red wine and frickin' batman! If I can I'll take pictures of the gorgeous batman lithographs (have I got the right word... dunno) we have in the flat. I liked Keaton, but the others were a bit...
My main concern is Katie Holmes, please tell me she doesn't make it suck.

Christian Bale. Excellent choice.
So it's better than Sin City is it Mike2?
I must admit I am looking forward to it. And War Of The Worlds.

I don't know if I can compare the two, but if I had to, I'd say I liked this more. Sin City has style in spades, but I have no prior experience with Frank Miller. Batman I've loved since I was a kid, so this was special.

Better than the Burton movies? Wow.
Yeah, Chris Nolan's involvement and the idea that it's supposed to be the beginning of a whole new franchise made me rethink my aversion to a new Batman film.
I used to watch reruns of the '60s series when I was younger. |

I wasn't gonna see this flick because I was certain it would suck, but hearing your enthusiasm Mike I've changed my mind. Looking foreward to seeing it now. I don't know what I would do without you guys. I would probably never have seen Sin City. Which I loved. Loved! |

For me it's the best batman film ever, i went to watch it yesterday with a lot of prejudices, but after watched it, it's a really good movie, without a lot of bigger special effects, concentrated in the dark history of how Bruce Wayne evolves to batman, the movie has an strong history and you never get bored.

I can't believe I now am going to see another Batman movie after being so burned by the last few. Tell me you are not part of the hype machine or anything and are being paid by the studio!
I still have fucking nightmares about George Clooney being all smug in the bat costume.

Wow I was pretty impressed by it. So damn realistic. I mean as realistic as a comic book superhero movie could be. But for every thing they nail right, they annoyed me too.
(are there spoilers here?)
I just wish Scarecrow was there more. And better used. I'll say this - when he WAS used, it was AMAZING. WOW... Perfect Scarecrow. But he's barely in the movie and doesn't really have much one on one with Batman. I wish they went into how Jonathon Crane is obsessed with fear and scaring people.
I have about a million things to say about the movie...

I agree with Jordo about the Scarecrow. My ONLY two criticisms were not enough Scarecrow (though, as Jordo said, he was very, very effective when he was there) and Batman's voice, as opposed to Bruce Wayne's. It just seemed like it had a "tough guy" tone to it. But that's such a picky detail. The whole thing was freakin' fantastic. It's hard to imagine this one beating out Tim Burton's films, but I think it does, with flying colors. I saw it today, and I have to see it again tomorrow. I don't think I absorbed all of it. I think it's one of the most well-rounded "action flicks" I've ever seen. Beautiful cinema, my friends.

I agree with those above you wanted more Scarecrow, the actor who played was perfect, and his character was great. I wanted more of him too, especially more of him AS Scarecrow, but perhaps he seemed so effective and perfect because we saw so little of him? He was mysterious and shadowy and pretty much scary as hell. The first scene where he revealed himself was just awesome. As was his confronation with Batman.
