First up: Kathryn's Mix:
Favorite Tracks: Ramones - "Substitue," Sugar - "A Good Idea," Tin Machine - "Baby Universal" Least Fav. Tracks: Bob Mould - "Wishing Well," REM - "Ages of You" Comments: I am only chosing songs i didn't previously know as my fav/least favs, so that disqualified a bunch of these songs. Kathryn's mixes (this one and the one she made for me a few months ago) really clearly illustrate her tastes (ie. lots of Mould!) and to me shows a really great cross section of '80s punk/post punk/college rock without putting in any of the shit of that decade (ie. cock rock). I have been meaning to check out Tin Machine for quite some time, so i'm glad i got a little intro here, and i have liked the Ramones most of my life but never heard this track! I'm not a big REM fan (sorry Tre), and this one Mould song just doens't do it for me, but the rest of the Mould/Sugar tracks are great!

Season five, I think? Not sure. Anyhoo, they're talking about, shoot, I forget. They're in the kitchen. Marge says, um, I can't remember, but Homer says "YPB?" And he then has to explain he means "Your point being?"
My memory is shot. Sorry.

So I got Andy's and Toby's yesterday. Good thing I didn't include the SpongeBob Squarepants closing theme in my mix. VERY good thing I didn't include Jean-Jacques Perrey's Mary France either! What the hell is going in on with you people stealing my ideas??

On the other hand, thank you so much for your mix #3. It has been an expensive sending for sure.

Got Mike's CD yesterday. God, it's all going too fast. I already have 6 (7 if you count toba's double disc), plus Honeycomb that I can't stop listening to.
Meanwhile I eventually managed to transfer the song I wanted from vinyl to my computer (Brian, I used dbPowerAmp; seems to work OK but it has a 30-day trial period, after which you lose some useful features), so I now have the definitve tracklist, a nice cover, and envelopes. I'm sending everything this weekend - I mean it this time!

Broken Face mix review: * Faves: Danielson Famile, Ted Leo, Calvin Johnson, Wrens... * Least faves: Foo Fighters, AC Newman, Dan Byrk, the first funk track * Great CD, quite in the same vein as the all-instrumental previous one. I already knew the songs by GbV (both k and you selected GbV tracks and unfortunately they're both on the only album I have by them!), Pavement, Wonder and the Danielson Famile, of which I'm a big fan. I don't really care about funk so track #2 didn't do much to me, and the FF song dragged a bit IMO. I'm definitely gonna check out Sufjan's new album, and I loved the tracks by Ted Leo (which somehow reminds me of J Mascis although I'm not really familiar with his stuff) and The Wrens.

LBF's Mix Review:
Favorites: "Punk as Fuck" - American Analog Set, "You're So Vain" - David Axelrod, "Ain't No Grave" - Richard Buckner Least Favs: I'm not a big hardcore fan, so those tracks were my least favorite... Comments: ...however, i'm glad that they were on there, as they worked very well into the mix, and now i can talk to my hardcore friends and be like "Yo, what's up with _____" and not appear to be totally ignorant [although i have seen Dillenger Escape Plan once open for Ol' Dirty Bastard, i shit you not]. I really dug the mellow-intro section and the covers/funk heavy end. And that Buckner track was an AMAZING end to the disc.
And an addendum to Kathryn's mix - the more i listen to the "A Good Idea" the more i can't get it out of my head, a sign of a song that i will like for a long, long time. My favorite song to come out of any of these mixes so far this round!
