Sorry if this has been posted before, but Pitchfork tells us today about an all acoustic gig in the late summer:

http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/news/05-06/16.shtml

Sounds pretty neato!

So, I guess Frank played most Pixies songs acoustic on those solo shows he did when he was still with the Pixies, but which ones do you think they'll play, which ones would you like to hear, and which ones do you think fit in an all acoustic set?

I never ever thought I'd hear about the Pixies headlining a folk fest. If I had money to burn and a job I wanted to abandon, I'd have a flight booked right now.

Hopefully this means they'll continue to expand the scope of their setlists; I can't imagine acoustic versions of songs like Planet of Sound or Dead, even if he sings 'em softly. But then I guess they've surprised us many times before...

Nothing is ever something.

The Black Francis solo shows were all electric, as far as I know. The selection of Pixies songs that were played in recent years were pretty limited in comparison.

This upcoming gig should be fantastic!

Oh, my bad then. But isn't it still somewhat the same situation. It feels like songs that works well with just an electric guitar and vocals are the same ones that would work well in an acoustic set. Meh, I don't know, maybe not.

Is there going to be a Pixiesdiscs??? I am guessing probably not b/c it's such a huge event!!

Cool idea Pixies... maybe you can tour with it??

Many of Frank's songs are so good that they'd sound fine even if you played them on the harmonica.

Am very excited bout this show :P

The Pixies playing a show only 25 minutes away. I may have to buy tickets, but at $48...

Must make decision. All other bands playing same day suck/never heard....

same day: jim and jenny and the pinetops. bluegrass kind stuff, they have some great songs. might be hokey for yall, but I saw them open for over the rhine a few years back, they were great.

... i'm in the same "heh? $48!!" boat still, though... esp. since i just paid $50 for a non-b-sides "b-sides" show! can't complain though...

skinny puppy has a song called "cult" - does that count?
