Last year we had the poncho and the high heeled flip flops. This year we seem to be having the white gypsy/prairie skirt with ballet flats combo.
What have you seen men or women wearing lately you think is utterly daft?
This is wear you can have a good old fashioned rant (without anyone judging you while you hide in the comfort of your own home, wearing a rather dodgy Pantera t shirt and baggy cut off jeans) and un matched socks. |

As much as I like the jeans-blazer-button up shirt-t-shirt combo, it's becoming a bit too ubiquitous. Oh well, at least it looks good.

This summer, trendy women are wearing flouncy skirts like this
and shoes like this
with lots of gawdy southwestern-knockoff jewelry. Tacky.

Cool topic!
I am not sure if this is exactly fashion per say...For starters. It was kinda cool when Lance Armstrong started the whole yellow plastic wrist band "Live Strong" I work in oncology, and so naturally we all had them....but then everyone started jumping on the wagon. For goodness sake....I was grocery shopping this weekend and I couldn't escape being asked by the clerk if I wanted to buy a blue one for prostate cancer. And when I was at a bookstore...a BOOKSTORE!....I was asked at checkout to buy a purple one...for some relay team for some other group. I think we are approaching overkill to say the least. Although...I do want to add that I think the intent of them is good....but for fashion....NO.

Noooooo!
You like the high-heel flip flop? Stupid looking and uncomfortable -- not a good combo.
Thankfully, the wedge is in this summer and I am all over it.

Cheese I know what you mean about the prettyness - it's nice to see women change from those damn velour juicy couture tracksuits (did I rant about those yet?) into something feminine - however it's when the general female population appears to stop having individual thought and suddenly everyone looks the same - that is when it's a trend gone mad and pissing me off. |

No kidding! Or those halter tops with the Paris Hilton skirts that barely is covering their junk in the trunk. I actually feel myself getting scared that they might bend over! |

We used to fold the bottom of our jean pants legs and then tuck them in the fold at the bottom of the leg so it fit snug around our ankles just above our essential, must have Sebagos...
Anyone else do that shit back in middle school?

You have Hugh Laurie over there? Ace!
And no, Kathryn, I'm not so big on high-heeled flip-flops (I don't think I've seen any around even), and ugh, ponchos. But I like the frilly skirt/ballet shoes thing, as long as it's not overdone. Simple is good. I like short skirts also, but I don't think thats a seasonal thing.

it's been going on for a long time, sadly, but i think the yuppie-hippie wearing-a-dress-over-jeans look is ridiculous. as much as a slut as i am, that's where i draw the line. i can't deal with that |

Can we talk about men's hideous trends? The dreads-on-white-guy look? Uh uh. No. The wife beater tops? No. The shoes that velcro thing that came into fashion about a decade ago? I can't do that, I cannot take seriously a man wearing anything from the Teva/Birkenstock family of shoe apparel.
I apologize if I am offending anybody here, btw.

And I hate how fashion is going, I can't like a single shop these days. So, jeans are the best for me.

I always look at other guys shoes and there seems to a big wide fucking great divide, either they're absolutely hideous which is most of the time, or theyre really stylish
I don't know when I turned into a shoe guy

I have a bit of a thing for a wife beater done subtley.
(that sounds so wrong) and I'll forgive birkenstocks, but what the hell is up with the rosaries and crucifixes? And the streaking of the hair on men? I'm fine with men dying their hair and wearing make up even - but when you do it badly, I will not be quiet. |

I bought the best pair of trainers I ever had recently. They're blue and red Reef skate shoes, and they just fit with my clothes something perfect. However, I can't wear them at the moment because my big toe is all swollen with this damn toenail, so it's back to my big clunky trainers.
