well, none of them are available in my county's library database, and all are not in print in america currently, and all of the titles are available used on amazon.com, but only one or two copies of human punk for under $20, no copies of the wildfire season for under $35, and one copy of a big boy... for under $20. i just see these as very hard to get unless i order them imported, so i may sit out if i can't find them b/c money is a bit tight right now

D'oh! I hadn't checked prices. Thanks, Brian. Looks like shiner's trio might be cost-prohibitive for us in the US.

Hehe, if we're only to consider books readily available to us south africans (ok make that "me south african") we'll end up reading Jilly Cooper.

Which reminds me (?) I read another Edward Carey book - Alva and Irva and I may have been a little harsh when I said I didn't like it, it's a good book, but not one I want to read again in a hurry. I didn't like the central characters much (I've already moaned about the italiscised sub story annoying chapter preface) but it all ties up nice enough. I guess it wasn't observatory mansions was my problem with it (I keep renewing it at the library so I don't have to take it back)
hang on... wrong thread maybe? aaah well
I hope that I will live to see you undress |

or, i am open to any suggestion for a tom robbins book, a good friend has been urging me to read him and i get the feeling a few of you have read one or more of his works. probably still life with woodpecker, but he has others at my library so if there is one none or most of us haven't read we can pick one of those.

I'd be reluctant to read cocaine nights but am happy in the others and would read it if everyone else wants to, still life.. is a damn fine book and I'll happily read that again, it's a good 'un.

check your local libraries to see what;s in guys and we'll see what we can get. my library has 3 robbind titles in (still life, even cowgirls, and something about skinny legs?) as well as the banks one and i put a hold on the mark danielewski one.

thats one hell of a recommendation that is.
I have still life... and I have access to all the others, we need a decisive person to do a decisive thing
(I also have cocaine nights but I'll be honest, I hate it)
