Hello everyone,
I've been spending a ton of time listening to Teenager of the Year lately. While I owned it for a while, it wasn't until I drove down to Florida did I really appreciate the album, understand the song flow, sing songs in my head at work etc. Besides his stuff with the Pixies, this is my only Frank Black album. I'm just curious as to what you think I should lisen to next. Thanks. |

Cool. Thanks. Looks as if general consensus is to start at the beginning, as is the case with most bands. |

I'm just saying that I owned the CD for a while but never really listened to it for whatever reason. For my trip to Florida, I blindly grabbed a bag full of CDs for the ride. Coming from NY, I had a ton of listening time. I listened to it twice in a row then. And I've been listening to it regularly since I've been down here for the past month.
Do I think the sunny Florida weather fits the tone of the album? Yes. But sometimes you need to put something away for a while and listen to it at a later date to fully appreciate the value.
It's excellent to listen to in any location. |

i agree. Teenager Of The Year would even cheer me up if i was in prison on death row..
if you want another sunny Frank Black album, i recommend the "yellow' album, his first self titled album, nicknamed "yellow" because of it's overwhelmingly yellow qualities

yes, get the yellow/orange (cd/lp) one. put it on, and "los angeles" will blow you away. and when it's almost finished, look at the world with a slight melancholic view when listening to "don't ya rile em"
I joined the cult of Souled American / 'cause they are a damn' fine band |

I believe the "which album should I get next" question was put in the FAQ section? |

Can't go wrong with "Frank Black," "Dog in the Sand" or "Black Letter Days" next. "Frank Black" can seem a little truncated after "Teenager," since it's the same style, but the songs are major (think of how "Combat Rock" sounds after "Sandinista!"). I think "Los Angeles" is the best thing he ever wrote, and really each track is good. Dig in. The last few really flow well together too. Two Reelers is dead on about "Don't Ya Rile 'Em." |

My friends and I went down to Naples, Florida every year for Spring Break. We brought a boombox on the beach and drank some beers why listening to FB. Possibly the most peaceful and satisfying thing a human being can experience... |

But do you have to go to Mars to listen to "Big Red" or "The Marsist"?
I was all out of luck, like a duck that died. I was all out of juice, like a moose denied. |
