The Bellrays are fucking awesome. Imagine Ike-era Tina Turner fronting the MC5 and you're close. Wouldn't think of them as a good fit with the Pixies, but stranger things have happened. Frank at his best is as much old soul Levi Stubbs as he is a singer like Lou Reed, for example.
