Okay. So I'm not trying to secede or anything like that. I love this forum. But I'm working on designing a web page for a band and they want a forum. I can't find any scripts available that I can understand. Anybody know a good place to find info on how to make a very simple forum? If I can find something 1/20th of this forum it'd be more than enough. Anybody? Anybody? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

What are they using for a host? Many have something called fantastico which will pretty much install PHP forum (what they use over at PixiesMusic) for you. It's a big and sprawling thing, but pretty easy to get a general idea of what's going on and tweak.

Hey. Thanks. I'm still finding my footing with the whole business. I'll have to check on the host. They've had a forum before under the same host, so they'll be able to handle it. I've seen that PixiesMusic forum setup elsewhere as well. However, it's just a little TOO big and sprawling. I'd only need two categories (for now, and for a while as I see it), which would be a "General Chat" not unlike this one, and then one pertaining directly to the band (Spooncat!). I like the idea of the user-friendly, tweakable format. But I don't need the whole bakery. Just a few rolls. |

I really like the Throwing Music Online one (www.throwingmusic.com), that's a really simple and attractive format, along similar lines to this (i.e. sans crazy great signatures).

I'll look into Fantastico some more. I just checked out the Message Board at throwingmusic.com and that's pretty much what I'm looking for. I'll see what's usable. Keep the thoughts coming though. I need all the help I can get. Thanks. |

You could always just create a thread and call it the Prozac Rat forum. But how much do you really know about Prozac Rat? |

You could still post to the General Chat area. Assuming there is one.
I was all out of luck, like a duck that died. I was all out of juice, like a moose denied. |

What does this have to do with helping me build a forum? I don't know. Oh well. Yes, when I get my band's web page up and running I'll see about putting a forum on that one, too. Until then I've got to focus on Spooncat!'s. Well, there's kind of a blog forum thingy. That one is prozacrat.blogspot.com I think. Not much on there, as I haven't advertized it much among our mailing list yet. In fact, not at all. But you're welcome to frequent that one if you'd like. |

Okay, kathryn. Here you go. It's prozacrat.kazorum.com. It's a forum for strictly Prozac Rat fun. Of course, everybody's welcome. And I'll still be spending the majority of my forum time here, of course.
Peace out,
Mr. Dietr |

Thanks, but I really didn't design much of it, aside of our banner. That kazorum.com place has the templates and everything. I might try to make my own design at some point, but don't really have the time right now. Oh well. It's a forum. That's what counts. |
