thats not a clear abstract, http://www.ajcn.org/cgi/content/full/77/1/91
In our study, the effect of the alcohol-rich meal on energy intake was not significantly different from the effects of the other meals. Thus, alcohol did not stimulate energy intake, as was been reported when alcohol was given as an aperitif (52) or with dinner (B Buemann, S Toubro, A Astrup, unpublished observations, 2002). Other studies did not, however, report any difference in energy intake after alcohol compared with carbohydrate or fat intake
no significantly higher calorific intake with alcohol but
After the alcohol meal, net fat oxidation was greatly suppressed, even more than after the carbohydrate meal. Also, carbohydrate oxidation was relatively low after the alcohol meal considering the carbohydrate content in this meal (43% of energy). This was probably due to the fate of acetate, the major product of ethanol metabolism in the liver (59). Acetate is released to the circulation and primarily oxidized, probably with priority over other substrates. Furthermore, acetate released into plasma inhibits lipolysis
are a bit clearer from a later article, fat retention it suggested is caused when consuming alcohol with a meal because the metabolism of alcohol causes production of acetate which inhibits the breakdown of fats..
make more sense?
(and kebabs fucking rock)

I know a guy (a assistant professor or whatever you call them over there) in the UK who is on the UK national ultimate team. Or at least, that's what he tells me.
You mean a lecturer? I hope it's not the same guy (after I have insulted him and all) plant biochemist this guy, name of Hooks? can't dance for shit (but makes mean eggnog)?
I just googled UK national team and I don't think there is one, there seems to be about a hundred.
looks tiring this frisbee game.

That's it. He's a lecturer at Exeter in Cornwell. I think that's a new university. But, I don't think it's same guy. The guy I know is originally from South Africa, but seems very British to me. |

Man, I love Americans, they crack me up. Exeter is in Devon, not Cornwall. And its a new university compared to Oxford/Cambridge which are about 800 years old.
Quite why you should be familiar with the details of English geography escapes me, but it tickled me.
