Is this some reggae thread? I don't do dreadlocks, OK? They're unsanitary plus goofy-looking on white people.

I'm talking song writing, dream-having, can't sleep, obsessing over strands of hair and the smell of bedclothes type stuff here.
I'm talking ripping pages out of magazines, writing short, poetic notes on them and sending them sort of deals.
I'm talking "sittin here wishing on the cement floor" type stuff.

I believe in one love.
A little kid once asked me "But how will I know if it is a true love or not?"
I answered : "Girlie, trust me, you will know..."
I will show you fear in a handful of dust |

floop, that's called having vital signs! I whatnot my husband but that doesn't stop me from finding someone attractive, funny, sexy, etc.
KRS's stuff, the "sitting on the cement floor," poetic, I'm gonna write a poem for my baby stuff.... I have never ever gone for. Maybe I'm just not romantic. I don't believe in romance, I believe in lust.
I also believe (and guarantee) that kittie's gonna have nine lives! Honey, you are not going to have just that one relationship or that one man, I promise.

well, like I said - could be wrong.
I had a dream once about a girl in a green sweater. That was some real powerful love feelings I had in the dream and she was not Debbie...there were parts of her that were similar, but the girl in the green sweater was smarter and completely dedicated to and in love with me. Made me think "she's out there...i can find her..." .
I could invent her, i guess.
Muahhhhahahaha!!!! |

I don't want to offend the "only one true love" contingent of our forum but I don't buy that idea and, to me, it reeks of perfectionism. Like there's this one perfect mate for perfect you. After the initial two weeks of constant sex wears off, being in a long-term relationship with someone is not about perfection or poetry. It's about solving day-to-day problems with humor and compassion and about being kind to each other. Sorry if that sounds imperfect.

Kathryn you're right, love can be all consuming and we put these love objects on a pedestal, but as thigs go wrong as they sadly sometimes do you have to remember to take them down from that pedestal, not measure everyone against them. People got to realize that no one is perfect and perfection gets as boring as everything else.
So give me fabulous imperfect irrational love and let it be tough and let it be confusing and let there be some shit to work out along the way and please god let it be interesting.

oh yeah - the kids.
The love I feel for my son is beyond anything I've ever felt for any other human being...but thats because he is my son.
romantic, sexual love with the opposite sex is a whole other bag of apples.
so kathryn, lust, eh? I'm apt to agree. Hot is hot and as I get older I'm finding that hot so much more than physicality (duh!). The married ex-girlfriend i see ever so often is hot in that "lets do it now in the elevator" sort of way but not so hot in the "i could never be a mother" sort of way.

i don't say love is perfect. i say it happens big and huge and once. hence, marriage.
if you didn't have real love for this person, there would be no compassion or kindness.
that two weeks of sex is why you are kind...because you still want them and love them and want them to know this...so, you're kind.
You and your lover dealing with life together. What's not romantic about that? You're a romantic and don't even know it. Contrived, invented romance can be campy and annoying but when the real shit is going down, there isn't an opiate out there that can compare. |

You believe in love though right? 'Cos lust 'aint nearly enough, neither is romance.
You know actually for me, lust is so far away from love altogether. I lust after people I know I probably can't have. I mean REAL lust when you wanna just, pardon the expression, nail that person right there and then. Temperatures usually die down after that first time. There 'aint nothing like that first time for pure all out lust. I guess the mystery of it all has something to do with it. Perhaps I should start a 'Forum Lust' thread.
I joined the secret forum, and all I got was this lousy secret

But Laeticia loves you back, floop, if only because you always spell her name correctly.
KSR, I don't believe it "happens big and huge and once." It's happened to me twice, and the first time I left because I knew that I would eventually get all wacky dealing with some things about him.

i say fuck all this "it happens when you least expect it" stuff. i'm going to be anal and plan out my love life.
i plan to fall in love again in 2 1/2 years. that'll be a good time because i'll have saved more money and hopefully be in a nice living situation.
then we'll have children and a white picket fence and all that shit |
