Anyone seen this yet? I went and saw it last night. It wasn't half bad.

Fucking great. Extremely entertaining. Some awkward acting in parts, but not enough to derail the action.

Not for the queasy though. It's amazing how much blood and violence you can cram into an R rated movie. Yet one erect penis and you get an instant X rating.

Makes a man feel powerful.

I don't know about erect penises, but for some reason movie makers feel obliged to throw one into just about every R movie these days. Eurotrip, Sideways, Trainspotting, Boogie Nights, a whole slew of others have shown guys schlongs.

I haven't seen Sin City yet, I am waiting for a convienient time to do so, but I am really looking forward to it and am glad to hear everyone's positive opinions.

it's worth seeing.. ultra-stylish and fun to watch. i thought it was a tad too long, but that's my only gripe. i thought they did a great job adapting the books into a film (not that i'm that familiar with the books, but enough to know what they're like).. i think this is Robert Rodriguez' most technically stylish film to date. i like most of his films, but some of them are a bit rough around the edges (not always in a bad way).. this one is very methodical and smooth.. nice compositions.. i think having Frank Miller on board for the directing was a big plus.

i like any movie where every female character is a hooker.

know what i'm sayin' dawg?

Frank Miller directed the second two (god-awful) Robocop films, as a bit of useless trivia.

I don't exactly know why they felt the need to throw Quentin Tarantino in there, they already had a pretty top-notch director with Rodriguez. It'd be sad if it was just to cash in on the name.

i noticed that Rodriguez actually gave Frank Miller directing credit above his name, which is surprising considering his ego..

ps. glaicial, i checked on Frank Miller .. it looks like he wrote the screenplays for those ROBOCOPS, but didn't direct them. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0588340/

Glacial, unless I'm mistaken, there was a deeper meaning to the Rodriguez Tarantino connection. I'm pretty sure that the deal was this:

Rodriguez scored Kill Bill Volume Two for only one dollar. I'm not sure of his intentions, but he did it. In return, QT decided to direct one scene of Sin City. I don't think this part was pre-arranged, but I think that Tarantino saw it as a way to repay Rodriguez.

Did anyone actually play Max Payne and what were their thoughts on the parallelism of this movie (at times)?

Also, funny story, I took a girl to this movie on a first date. She saw about 15 mins worth (where she wasn't covering her eyes).

That makes more sense...it just seemed like too many directors.

This a good comparison of the film to the comic, it measures up pretty well from the look of the comparitve stills on this site.

I haven't played Max Payne, maybe I should pick it up it's probably pretty cheap now and it might be good to tide me over until the Half Life 2 expansion although Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory will probably do that just as well but at a higher price tag. I can't believe Sin City got away with just an R rating though, what a brutal movie. Talk about penis' this movie had multiple penis' being shot off, ripped off, etc... It was very stylish which was fun and I'm ready to watch it again to look at it closer. Oh well I'm drunk and going to bed.
